Re: Coca-Cola Denies History Again

swim makes "old-school coca cola"... just drop in some coca leaf (how much up to swiy) let sit for days... then pour through a tea screen into cup... might lose some carbonation but it doesn't change the taste much, just adds more flavor and a feeling besides caffeine. its possible that the acids might hurt the alkaloids but it definitely doesn't destroy all of them.

Wow, this actually tastes like Coca-Cola? Oh, and by the way, Coca Cola was originally marketed as a medicinal drink, as coca leaf and the kola nut were thought of as healthy back then. In 1891, after being named in 1885, when the first debates about wether cocaine had negative health impacts were just starting, they cut the amount to a mere trace, because they wanted to keep the amount of medicinal coca in the drink. Then it all went in 1902 to a tiny, tiny bit.

coca (not cola) is actualy healthy, and thought of as such by a growing number of people.
however cocacola probably actually added cocaine HCl, as most "coca wines" and elixirs did when extracted cocaine became available ( Mariani wine for instance). Makes a world of difference, as coca drinks are not that strong, and only do develop a form of euphoriant effect when mixed with alcohol. But even then, it's not really comparable with a cocaine HCl containing drink...
