I've been asked to sit with a friend of mine while he does Sally. Can anybody offer me some advice?

As for sitting . . .
Stay sober and just sit quietly with him.
If he freaks out just reasure him he is ok and he will return to normal very soon.
If he gets up and walks around just make sure he stays safe, ie: keep him away from glass etc.
Its best to set the enviroment beforehand to a quiet, dark tranqual set.

Thats pretty much the gist of it. Swim has trip sitted for many people who smoked salvia divinorum and finds that every person is different.

Some people will just sit there and look around at stuff and not say a word. Sometimes they will just stare at you. Swim has been told by friends he was satan, or someone from the truman show, or even a clown by friends after their trip was over! Whatever you do though, don't touch the person in this type of trip. It can seriously freak them out and cause them to do something stupid that will be hard for you to deal with! Its best to just try talking to the people. Give them simple words of encouragement, and chatter amiably with them. Most likely they wont respond but swim has had friends tell him that his talking had a calming effect on them during their trip.

Other people start laughing uncontrollably. Swim had one friend who laughed so hard he had chest pains. Sometimes people have trouble controlling themselves while laughing. If the person is laughing so hard they are about to fall off a chair or are stumbling around then gently grab hold of their shoulders and slowly guide them to a safe place. People experiencing this type of trip don't notice outside interaction as much and you can touch them.

Another thing to look out for is people who can't sit down. These people tend to have spaghetti legs and if they try to walk can go *SPLAT!*. So you need to stay close if the person is walking in case they go over.


Otherwise just use your best judgement and try to make sure the person has a good time.

I can't add anymore except for remember, don't expect them to answer, and tell them before the trip that if you talk to them, not to feel obliged to answer. If they're trying to explain their trip, just listen intently, no matter how crazy it sounds. Just remember, they don't really know what just happened so they are trying to make sense of it themselves.
