Do you mean that it has already been banned or that it is going to be banned? I haven't heard anything and there hasn't been any incidents that could be used to justify such a ban, unlike mushrooms. This is a lttle worrying though, I will try and get some info over the weekend.

I have heard rumors from a Dutch distributor that salvia is going to be banned in Ireland. I do not know what's going on, but really would like to know.

I'll go into Dublin city in the morning and see if the headshops know anything. Might be time to stock up for the Irish members here.

How reliable is this source of info? And is it possible for legislation to be implemented when the Dáil isn't in session?

Shit, SWIM only has a gram of 10x left. Nobody I know has heard anything about this although it would be typical for it to happen without warning or discussion. I really hope you are wrong but I suspect you are not...
If it happens I wonder how they'll justify it.

edit
Something to bear in mind is that the Dail (Irish Parliment) are currently on holidays and won't sit again until September.

Fuck! That's completely out of the blue with absolutely no justification whatsoever, just when SWIM was getting into salvia and all. It's hardly surprising really though. The way things are going now San Pedro/Peruvian Torch, piperazines, fly agarics, etc. will all get banned too. This is a perfect example of totalitarianism. The bastards.

Where did people hear about the ban? This is not good for SWIM. I'd be surprised if Ireland banned it before the UK though.

Then get ready to be surprised. Don't underestimate what the government can do about something like this. There's little or no argument against this so they can do as they please really.

Salvia lends itself to indoor cultivation quite nicely, I've heard. If any monkey's have plants, then some cuttings would make nice gifts to their friends. A little rock-wool and some rooting compound and away they grow!

Some nice fire-nettles and poison oak would make a nice gift for you-know-who as well.

Yeah but SWIM thinks making extracts would be a bitch.

if this is going to happen in ireland what about the uk? any one no if this is going to be banned to. off topic but i don’t think it will be long before san pedro's and the like are banned as the old shroom sellers along camden market london have moved on to selling these cacti as well as that toad stool is it amanitas? even if they ban it surly there is not that much research or history of use for them to look at to warrant a high scheduling like with shrooms so hopefully if they did it would only be class c.

I don't see how anyone can really make an intelligent argument against the researched individuals' use of mescaline cactus. With this government though, where there's a will...

Any update on this? SWIM's too lazy to buy the papers, although it wouldn't be surprising if it wasn't even mentioned.

Yeah, but that's not how the head shops are selling them.

Besides, who has ever needed an intelligent argument to ban a drug?

This really doesn't help, either:

Swim read papers and found nothing in relation to the subject and swim has just returned from talking to people from a head shop in town and they had heard nothing about this either but they claimed even if the bill is passed it will take a number of weeks to take effect. so if it is true there should be enough time to stock up.......hopefully anyway.

Either way, it's still happening. And stock-ups will only last so long. Ah well, time to buy some crack off some dodgy illegal alien instead.
