I know that it's only a state of mind

SWIM has been smoking Marijuana for just over a year. He feels that it is important to note that this is not indica, resin, or the kind of weed that makes you sit down for 2 hours and fall asleep. He's talking about what in the UK is called "skunk", high-grade weed, bred and cross bred by homegrowers he knows, with the single aim of getting the most THC possible. People argue this isn't the best kind of bud, but i'm not here to talk about that.

When SWIM started smoking, he wouldn't smoke as much in one go as he does now, because of a shift in tolerance, but SWIM deffinately smoked decent amounts, and got as high as anyone should be expected to. During this period, SWIM experienced very little hallucination of any kind, he used to look at trees and imagine that there were patterns in them, and somtimes the leaves would make pictures, like aeroplanes, the face of george harrison, or anything you can think of, but nothing that was by any means mindblowing.

SWIM spent months dosing hawaiian baby woodrose seeds and yopo and that kind of stuff, and would sit down with his eyes closed and TRY to hallucinate. I don't know if this sounds stupid to anyone, so i'll just let it out.

An example of this would be: SWIM closes his eyes and sees a navy blue blob, and imagines something less circular than the blob, while focusing on it intensely, and the blob would flatten out at the top, and strech out sideways, and after a while, SWIM could make it into a straight line. SWIM then tries to imagine it curling down at the edges, and then eventually that there is a hinge in the middle. This moves onto a flapping motion, and in what seems like hours, but is probably 10-15 minutes, SWIM has made a seagull, and he can see it as clear as he can see his hand infront of his face. The seagull might be lime green, with swirling pink spirals in every feather that taper down into baskets of stars, and he's not sure how it happened.

To start with, each tiny step of the process of trying to hallucinate is fraught with doubt: "Am I seeing this? Or am I imaginging it? Is this a vision, or an imagination?", especially if you've heard from the majority of people that the drugs you're taking are visually unimpressive. This went on for literally months, probably 2-4 months, working on it every time he tried psychedelic drugs that he bought from the internet. It was not always fun, and a lot of the time he just didn't feel like doing it. After a while however, he found that it was much easier to move around hallucinations, and to change their colours and shapes and the ways in which they moved.

To start with, SWIM would take 18 hawaiian woodrose seeds, and if he was lucky, he'd see faint grey lines with his eyes closed, and they'd drift out of his vision within seconds. After time, SWIM found that he could find a grey line, and within a few minutes, he could make a locomotive train or a face with 2 noses. Eventually (months later), the hallucinations didn't have to be made, and he could close his eyes on a dose of 12 hawaiian babies and instantly be faced with a car full of people, throwing tennis balls around and making gestures to him, and would proceed to mould it into one of his favourite landscapes out of the yellow submarine in no time at all.

As I have previously said, SWIM has been smoking bud for a little more than a year, and it is also around a year since he started to mould hallucinations from hawaiian babies and yopo. SWIM now finds that he can pack a few bowls and with eyes closed, watch music videos in the park, or fly over pink floyd album covers on motorcycles, every single time he gets high on weed. Not only this, but he can stare at trees in a park, and see not only patterns and shapes, but words that he can read but not interpret, and marshmallow tree tunks falling from the leaves and making huge splashes as they hit the concrete path below.

SWIM smoked weed 7 hours ago, and stopped feeling noticably stoned about an hour ago, he hasn't been what he would call "high" for at least 4-5 hours. As we speak, SWIM can close his eyes and see a window on a black background about 20 feet away, through which he can see a faintly rippling pool of turqoise another 10 feet behind the window. It's not overly beautiful or amazing, but it's deffinately there, and it's very very interesting.

SWIM dosen't know if the weed he has now is better than the weed he got when he started out, but he finds it hard to believe that it's this much infinitely better.

Most well respected encylopedia-style drug websites, under the "effects" of marijuana smoking, list "closed-eye hallucination" as "uncommon", and open-eyed hallucination is rarely listed. All the people SWIM talks to who smoke have never experienced OEV, and few have experienced CEV, apart from his little group of psychedelic-enthusiast friends. SWIM and his friends all agree that Marijuana does cause open-eyed visual hallucination, SWIM has seen it with SWIM's own eyes.

SWIM's question to you is this:

Do you think you can train yourself to hallucinate? Is it possible to work hard at it very gradually, and to get to the stage where the same drugs that once made you think "something's not right, but i'm not that bothered", will at one time take you on amazing journey over fondant flavoured herds of saucepan-monsters, filling your ears with the smell of rainbows?

Do you get OEV when smoking pot?

SWIM has come a long way from faint grey lines, and he wouldn't change it for the world. SWIM has the rest of his natural life to smoke pot and do acid, E, nitrous oxide, ketamine and a huge variety of all the chemicals that he loves. He hopes that it will keep getting better, and that he'll keep working on it, and at some point will be able to smoke a blunt and be transported across space and time, with the greatest of ease.

For many people, the nature of a marijuana (or any cannabis form) high will seem to change after one has also used a major psychedelic such as LSD25 or psilocybin. They report greater visual and auditory effects such as seeing mandalas in the pavement of streets and hearing music they have heard many times before "as if for the first time." This effect is reported to last indefinitly.
