Peruvian Torch Harvest

A Friend of mine bought a couple of 3 year ols peruvian torches, and 18 months later, they have been deemed ready for ingestion, his question was this: can peruvian torches be harvested in a way that will allow them to grow back? or does a trip mean 2 dead cacti no matter how you do it?

The cacti may be harvested without killing the plant by cutting off the growing tip of the plant and allowing it to re-root. Cut it off so that roughly three times the diameter remains. Allow it to dry out for a few weeks, then set it in some DRY cactus soil so that a few centimeters (an inch) of the bottom are buried. Do NOT water the cactus until it starts re-growing new roots or it will just rot. It usually takes three months in dry soil for the new roots to start. The new roots look like stubby white nubs a few mm in diameter. There are generally about 5-10 of them protruding from the cactus under the soil. After you start watering the cacti, allow the soil to completely dry out before watering again to prevent molding. By regrowing cacti in this manner, a sustainable source of mescaline can be maintained using the same plants over and over again. SWIM has 16 fat healthy San Pedros for this very purpose...
