tom, it depends how you look at it. if you havnt tried much , of speed then ppl usually just call it base, or phet, or whizz. mainly phet.

but now that i know there are different types ya gott get it right. saying to someone you have base when infact its just shitty white powder will get their hopes up too much as base its soooo uch more stronger and purer than speed.

In NZ it is commonly referred to by the media as "P" which stands for Pure. Pure Crystal Methamphatamine.

The standard name in Australia that the media and non-users quote is 'ice'. In Sydney (depending on the background/race and/or area) some common names (not typically from Anglo-saxons) are 'Bouz', 'Rice', 'Crystal - and the term everyone I associate with uses is Shabs, which is a derivative of the Japanese 'Shabu Shabu'.

Someone above mentioned 'goey', I've only ever known goey to be the title for speed (base + glucose).

Fillipinos and other South-East Asians often refer to meth as Shabu, though swim has seen this in other countries rather than the place of orgin, so it may just be in the expatriate communities he has seen.

He thinks thats one of the most common names for it in the Phillippines itself though.

Not sure if its a borrowed word from Japanese or came about some other way.

It's also interesting that most users in the US, from what I can tell, prefer to snort their gear. I haven't come across a single person who has so much as even mentioned snorting shabs - I have a pretty large circle of friends/associates from different backgrounds and it's pretty much the standard to smoke it with a pipe or 'chase the white dragon' on aluminium foil, or the more extreme method of IV which I avoid at all costs.
