Most of the Social Forums do not have reputation, nor do posts add to your post count.
Asides various well known forums, the social forums category also includes direct links to other social aspects of the site, including:

• Social Blogs
  This displays all blog entries that have been added to the 'social blogs' category. Our members produce a constant flow of new blogs.
  If you want your blogs to display here, then make sure that you add them to this category by editing the blog.
• Chat Rooms
  Our 6 Chat Rooms include social chat rooms like the Lounge. Chat is available for donating members. (from 3.50)
• Social Groups about Music or Off Topic discussion.
  There are many groups about social topics. You may want to join or start a new one.

Ah, so this is likely why my post count dropped from the low 700's to the high 600's? Not a complaint by any means, just curious what occurred.

Yes, indeed. As we reward high reputation to post ratio, the post count on these off-topic forums are turned off. This increases your reputation - post ratio.

I'm a fan because I always forgot which forums didn't add to our total post count. Which forums still add to our post count and rep? Book reviews and multimedia?

As reputation can be spread out in Multimedia, posts there do add to your post count. Basically the rule is simple: Subfora that feature reputation buttons add to the post count, those that don't, don't.
