North Carolina's New Resource For Substance Abuse Information

Partnership for a Drug-Free NC, Inc. (PDFNC) has rolled out a new website for North Carolinians. DrugFreeNC.org provides accurate substance abuse information for parents, teens, teachers, and adults. Visitors to the site can learn about the disease of addiction, the real facts about substances and how they are used and abused, and guidance for finding help for someone who needs it.

The internet is full of information and, unfortunately, misinformation about drugs and alcohol. Bert Wood, President and CEO for PDFNC, says, "We designed this website to serve as a gateway that points people in the right direction to find answers to their substance abuse related questions. The amount of available information is overwhelming, so we're presenting a variety of reliable resources in one easy-to-use website. We want it to be convenient for people to educate themselves about these important issues."

Features of the website include Frequently Asked Questions, tips for parents on talking to their children about drugs and alcohol, links for teens to get the straight facts about the risks of using substances, and statistics about the prevalence of substance abuse right here in North Carolina.

The new website is part of PDFNC's award winning Media Campaign that is funded by the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services in the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. PDFNC is an Alliance Member of The Partnership for a Drug-Free America. Through print and broadcast public service announcements, and now the new website, these organizations work to prevent and reduce the use of substances among North Carolina's youth.
