minors in trouble?

i'm a young adult, and i was driving around 2 minors who were 16.

a cop who recognized me (i've gotten arrested twice for possession of weed) pulled me over and searched my car, he didn't find anything.. but you could tell he was still suspicious.

then he asked how old the other people were, i said 16 and he made them get out of the car and give him their names, parent's phone numbers, addresses, etc. and questioned them.

what is the reason for this? the minors did/were doing NOTHING wrong.

and will the cops contact their parents?
