I am totally new to this. My curiosity and creative side is pushing me on to discovery. My suite and tie is asking, "do you know what your doing?
SO, to allow the better part of me, curiosity creativity,
i would like to see side by side photos of, bad, bad dog, dont eat Amanities and good, have fun Amanities. any one know where i could find such a gallery?Thanks

Well you really cannot confuse red Amanita Muscaria with any other mushroom. So there is not a whole lot of mushrooms you could put up aginst it and compare. The identification is pretty clear cut.

Wow, thank you, thats the fastest reply ive ever gotten on any forum! Oh, well in reading here there was post about, Amanita Muscaria=psychoactive
Amanita Virosa=poison
I assumed they were simular because the name amanita in both. I will look up virosa and see the difference.

Well just remember that it is strongly advised that one sticks with the red Amanita Muscaria first and not attempt to figure out other mushrooms. If there is ever any question as to identity do not ever ingest the mushroom.

I was under the impression that there were other mushrooms in the amanita family that could be confused with muscarias.

In another thread around here somewhere, I noted something very disturbing I found. It was an amanita muscaria growing from the same bulb (base of carpophore) as an all-white a. verna. This was found in eastern Massachusetts during October some years back. I didn't have the needed materials to assay them - unfortunately.
