Salvia divinorum extracts
when extracting salvia from leaf, has anyone ever tried using the super critical fluid extraction technique rather than the acetone/naptha/IPA route?

super critical fluid extraction is most popular in reducing marijuana to hash or hash oil. In essence, it consists of a PVC pipe 1 to 2 inches in diameter with a cap on both ends. bottom cap has several small holes (1/16 to 3/32's), top cap has one hole in center. The herb of your choice is then loosely placed into the tube and a fluid that will boil at room temperature (butane) is then injected into the PVC tube under pressure. This then extracts essential oils, leaving behind chlorophiles, plant sugars, and leafy material. oil drains out bottom holes, mix with high proof ETOH, and store until ready to use. Obviously, there are a few procedural steps not thrown in here (filtering, etc.) but that is the basic method. THINK SAFETY! What you have done is create a LARGE pipe bomb! proper ventilaton is CRITICAL! As you see a beautiful oil start to drip out, this is NOT the time to have a smoke and tell yourself how good you are. The real question would be is salvinian-A oil based or water based? Further information on the above method can be found at sister sites or I could go into detail, but that would be merely relating the details of what I found on a piece of paper that was stuck to my shoe while I was out walking with SWIM.

ETOH is alcohol (such as everclear) and yes, there is a residue sticking to the sides of the chamber, but this subject is more properly addressed in a different sub-forum.

Swim was wondering if there really is 40x and higher... the most he has been able to find was 20 or 25x.. swim was also assuming that u must make the higher doses urself using these extraction methods.. furthermore, the 20x extract didn't last 30 mins.. but rather 3 or 4... indeed it did feel like a lot longer than that.. will uping the dosage really extend this trip to the 30 min plateau or does it just make trip more intense?? i know its a lil off subject but any info would be appreciated..

above 20x is mostly a waste of money. SWIM tried 75x from (Not sure if rules allow SWIM to post company names here) and 40x from .. and 30x from .. He found one 60x that was as good as 20x from .... So, In SWIM's opinion, go for 20x or make your own with residue free acetone or where it's legal, everclear booze. |
