I dont think brazil nuts are a stimulant, maybe a very weak one. However, they are a good source of selenium and vitamin E, so eat 'em up!
Edit: Just did some research, from what I can gather brazil nuts contain a very small amount of tyramine, which is a weak stimulant. I'm not 100% on this though, my sources werent very clear. |

They do contain a very small amount of tyramine, but large doses are needed for any effect, and the effect is commonly a headache and nothing more. probably not the best way to get high. Just drink some coffee it would be a better stimulant than brazil nuts and tyramine.

Are you, perhaps, thinking of Betel Nuts? They are a stimulant - xanthine (caffeine) alkaloids. Downside is they turn your teeth bright red. Which might not be a downside if you have a warped sense of humor and creative mind.

Okay. But we still don't know whose nuts we are talking about. Brazil's nuts, or SE Asia's nuts. They're all nuts if you ask me.
Aha! It's related to nicotine. Interesting. |

Brazil nut(para nuts)contain lots of selenium and is believed to be good for preventing cancer, but as far as I know there has not been a lot of research on it. It also contains a lot of E vitamin. Bertholletia excelsa is the name for the "Brazil nut tree", but as far as I know it is not used as a stimulant. I have heard it tastes really good and is used in food.

Betel nuts contain arecoline (methyl-1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-1-
methylnicotinate), a votalite oil, is released from the nut by action of saliva and time. Betel leaf contains chavicol, allylpyrocathechol, chavibetol and cadinene -hope this helps a lil' bit |

Re: Brazil nuts? or maybe im nuts!
I've heard some locals eat those nuts while drinking beer. Tons of it. No mind altering effects at all. If you want to try something local and exotic, you should try "cola de sapateiro".

Re: Brazil nuts? or maybe im nuts!
I believe brazil nuts are the world's most radioactive food. The trees concentrate radium from the soil in the nuts.
I've not heard any warnings about the radioactivity of brazil nuts, so I assume that they are harmless at normal usage levels. However I would be careful about eating huge amounts on a regular basis because radium tends to accumulate in the body. |
