Social - Friends want to use coke with me.. Perdicament.

So a few of my friends know that SWIM does coke, and three of them that have never done it before are interested in trying it withhim.
He's cool with this, but worried that it won't stop as a 'trying it just once' type of thing, and end up as a full-blown, life-ruining addiction, and then he'll feel like total shit.
On the other hand, they're all adults, they can make their own decisions, and it's not really his place to tell them what to do.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do?

SWIM has been in this situation before as well. His instinct tells him not to facilitate the use of drugs in people that may or may not be able to control their use. But then i realize that they are their own person and are capable to make their own decisions and how much i would hate it if someone tried ot keep me from doing something i knew i wanted to try.

Try to inform them of the risks of addiction and of overdosing on the drug before and during the session, It'll give you something to talk about, cuz you know your all going to want ot be talking at 100mph. and it will give them the information they will need to make a smart decision and keep making them in the future.

Do it with them and be a teacher, spread fact and experience not propoganda and fear tactics. You will be doing a service to the community and maybe they will do the same in return, causing a chain reaction of truth and understanding.

And I forgot to mention that -SWIA- got started on coke in a similar fashion, a good friend of his did coke regularly, and he asked her one day if she wanted to do it with him. She agreed, and, well, SWIA bought two 8-balls today.

And yeah, that's a good idea IHrtHalucingens, although SWIA thinks he'd like to talk to them about the risks before they do it, and see if they still want to. Worst case scenario they get really hooked, but he doesn't think these friends know anyone they could easily get cocaine from, so he could just refuse to deal to them. Although he knows that if you're really fiending for coke, you'll find it somehow.

Also, would an 8-ball be plenty for 3 people with no tolerance and one experienced user; that works out to 87 mg per person which should be fine for someone with no tolerance, right?

That should be sufficient for a first time. But it really depends on what one wants to get out of the experience and hpw long they want it to last. 1 gram could be enough but conversly 5 grams could be too little.

But you should be ok with an 8ball for everyone.

AP - as Swim was in a similar position, but as the student not the teacher, he says that it is a tricky decision.

If they turn out to be sensible and just use Coke recreationally then everyone's cool. But if they turn out to have addictive traits then, blah, blah - I don't need to lay a heavy guilt trip on you.

However, they are adults. They can make up their own minds. Ask yourself how you would feel if they ended up trying it with someone else - possibly someone who doesn't give a rat's ass about them.....

The consumption of cocaine is against the law, and therefore you should discourage any people you know of, from engaging in such an illegal activity.

However, my imaginary alien friend Zoltan lives on a similar carbon-based planet devoid of any drug laws, and hypothetically speaking, his advice could apply to you. It is his opinion, that as long as you're not forcing the idea, or pressuring your friends into trying cocaine - well, there isn't a huge moral issue then...
If your friends are interested enough to even consider taking the drug, well, chances are that they'll find their own sources eventually, if you aren't willing.

And as stated above, they ARE adults. What they do with their own body and mind is solely their own responsibility.

But you are a friend of theirs. So it is your responsibility to give tremendous effort to help them, if they start to stray off the path, and into the woods of addiction or abuse.

Swim has friends who wanted to use with her, and she obliged. Now, as swim's friends are using with her, they tend to want to tell her they worry that she has a problem. Go figure. Swim will not introduce anymore friends to this habbit.
