Did you start taking drugs to rebel against society, your parents, authority?

I started smokin mary jane because everyone I knew did so I tried it. I liked it, smoked it for a few years, than decided it wasn't worth the risk anymore. We all get into drugs for different reasons but the truth is most keep doing them because they make us feel good. I don't think all that many people do drugs to "rebel" anymore though.

I started smoking weed because I was hanging out with older people that were always smokin weed. It looked like it would be fun 2 be stoned. @ first they wouldnt let me smoke weed. After a while of me begging 4 a puff and them refusing i started. I was 14 years of age. Magical 14.



Sands of time is right im sure but im still smokin 4 different reasons. I do it to relax from school where they are buging me 2 come 2 school and 2 get high grades and shit. When I come home I like to really exercise my mind. I read philosophy ranging from Socrates 2 Kierkegard. The impact of this stuf on my mind in combination with weed almost makes me want to cry.

I tried it because a lot of people said it was fun; and it was, so I continued and went on to try other drugs in a quest for fun.



The idea of drug use having some deep-rooted psychological cause is just more bullshit from the anti-drug propagandists. Don't buy into that bunk.



Most people start using drugs because they are looking to have fun.

Ive never understood the reasoning that kids do certain badthings to rebel against their parents. I used to bea huge hater of my rents . and i showed it through swearing and shit .I never did anything not allowed for the purpose of rebelling .. i did it cause i wanted to ..

i started on pills cause i was depressed, went on to coke because i hung with people who did and then life got back on track and the coke made me happy so i kept using it and started using mj and X when i started playing football, sort of rebelling against myself all in all.

i started cuz THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO DO IN BOARDING SCHOOL, although my mom had been trying to get me to get high with her for years. so it wasn't rebellion. it was just something to do....... but now of course i've way upped the use since leaving school........hmmm

no, most poeple don't start smoking weed to rebel.... rebelion comes natural when you're a teenager ... and it just so happens that teenagers start to reach the age of curiosity and worldy knowledge ... hence it is a coincidence that many teenagers start smoking weed and experimenting with things (as they learn more varierty in the world) and start rebeling around the same age.

I never really thought about it much... Then one day i was walking
outside with some friends and one of them handed me a joint... it
wasn't a big deal, just the next step in our little lives, some start
drinking beer, others start smoking pot... We were all 16 years
old i think. I still don't know where he got it now i think about it...

I just took a hit of acid cause my new friends spoke highly of it... during the trip I did think "I'll show them.." regarding my poor parents... Yeah, over the years I've showed them some shit they didn't want to see their daughter go thru,and I am sorry to this day. b.)they cared if I lived or died
c.)they love me, no amount of drugs could kill that love

not really, I've just been interested in other states of consciousness so I like to try different drugs. I hardly smoke grass anymore, it makes me feel a bit anxious. I always procrastinate about doing things, so if I get stoned I just freak out about all the crap I should be doing!

i agree entirely, i have no idea what first motivated me to smoke pot - my (younger) brother and his friend offered me some, and i said yes. tried it a few times after that but never really experienced anything mind-blowingly enjoyable or even remotely so really, most of my experiences with it were bad. mainly due to alcohol. then another friend offered to let me try e with her. i dont know why i said yes, i honestly dont. i dont think i did then either. but after that, no looking back. the main reason i take drugs is to experience the weird and wonderful ways your mind can work, and that is what motivates me to try new things now.

have experienced thoughts and ideas that no sober, clean, drug-less
person could ever think of. Unfortunately, i cannot express these in
text to share with you all, but i assure you they exist!!



If i had never smoked, i would probably be a normal, buckle down slave
to society and have no origionality or creativity. Not to say that
non-smokers arent smart and creative, but the weed definately gives you
an advantage.

to rebel against my parents i got tattoos and got a girl pregnant



to rebel against society i retreated to my barn in my parents back yard
and stayed unemployed for months at a time... we'll see how long i can
keep the job im at... it's been going on three months



i first tried drugs because i thought they were cool, and as sad as it
sounds, i even bought in to the Hollywood bullshit that it's cool to be
a slave to drugs, as long as your high everything is coooooool...



manda is right about the parents tho, they're the only one's that
really do give two f*cks about your well being like it or not.... well,
that's what parents should be there for... but then again...



i know guys that grew up in foster care and group homes that didn't
have that, i also know guys that used to get beat a lot by their dads
and their moms didn't give a sh*t or got beat themselves

I started taking drugs to open my mind and experiment with myself...and
when i was young pretty much just to get f*cked up.

I never really felt like turning to drugs/alcohol to rebel against my
parents, authority, or society.

I guess peer pressure may have had a lot to do with it though.
