Opinions - Ready to drop LSD?

Hello, I am visiting my cousin and came across this handy website in his favorites list, so I thought I would ask a question of me own.
I saw this question being asked somewhere in the site, but it wasn't quite the same as the one I have.

The question: How can SWIM get his dealer to believe him when he says he's ready to take LSD?


SWIM's dealer doesn't believe that SWIM is ready to take the jump to LSD. He wants SWIM to smoke pot with him for ten times at least before he lets SWIM try the LSD. SWIM has researched LSD for almost a year, and has talked about and witnessed first hand experiences with his cousin MindCandy. I'm not sure if it's against the rules to post locations, but I will say that SWIM and his cousin live far apart from each other and where SWIM lives, it is extremely hard to get LSD (apart from only his one dealer).
I would like to make it clear that SWIM has nothing but respect for the drug and knows all of the risks involved. However, his dealer says that he thinks that SWIM isn't ready for it. SWIM thinks that his dealer is just trying to get SWIM to buy pot from him, as his dealer said he wants SWIM to become more experienced with pot before he tried LSD. However, pot and LSD are two totally different substances. SWIM doesn't have that much money, and he thinks his dealer will make him run out before he has a chance to buy LSD from him. SWIM would be glad to pay a good sum of money, if he had the money, but unfortunately SWIM doesn't have that much.

Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

hmm, your a customer, and your dealer is in business. Tell him you dont want the pot you want the LSD. Tell him that you will not buy any more pot from him until he sells you the LSD you want. He shouldnt be able to tell you what you can and cannot do. And if he still insists explain to him you have done your research and you are ready, it doesnt matter what he says. Worse comes to worse get someone else to buy the LSD from your dealer for you, so he doesnt know until after and youve already tripped. This way he knows you can handle it because you have done so before.

An ethical dealer, count SWiYourself lucky! Has s/he given any reasons why they don't feel SWiYou aren't ready to make the jump? I agree with IHrt that s/he can't tell you what you can or cannot do; however s/he will have to live with themselves if things go horribly wrong, and has to make sure that their own back is covered so far as risk goes - not something you find everyday in a dealer! It is a big jump from weed to acid (although A Certain Mouse told me once that he took acid before he really enjoyed weed. However, he was likewise 'assessed' by his nest mates for quite a while before, out of respect both for The Mouse, and for dear Lady Acid), and I can see the point s/he is trying to make.

Another tack to take might be to assure the person in question that SWiY will start small (maybe quarter to half a trip), and with an experienced & trusted sitter. My advice however would be to chill out & not hassle for it - when Alice feels SWiYou're ready to rock, she'll come & find SWiY...

SWIM can relate to what SWIY is saying. Prior to taking LSD for the first time, SWIM came up against lots of criticism and warnings from people she is associated with. Everyone has a story about how their friend’s friend’s brother who whoever got psychosis from the drug. Even SWIM’s pot dealers strongly advised against it, claiming to have seen crazy things that messed them up when they took it, though they encouraged her to try mushrooms. This problem seems to occur more when your dealers are also your friends. It seems that LSD has a particularly bad reputation. Everyone is terrified of having ‘bad trip’ and some people are even concerned about ‘flashbacks’. I guess this is the result of a combination of government anti-drugs propaganda and users of LSD who couldn’t handle their trips. In SWIM’s experience, the drug is very hard to come by as most dealers seem to specialise in the sale of pot and party drugs like ecstacy. This is all very frustrating, but SWIY must keep persisting. If SWIY has a reasonable amount of emotional stability and self-confidence, then SWIY is likely to be ready to drop. Good luck!

Well, SWIM's dealer claims to have taken LSD, but he said it was an accident, and SWIM isn't sure is his dealer is telling the truth. Nevertheless, SWIM's dealer insists that SWIM doesn't know anything about the drug even though SWIM has researched LSD for at least ten hours in the past week. The only other person that SWIM knows of who shares SWIM's dealer is the dealer's friend and also does not want SWIM to take LSD.

These dealers sound retarded IMHO... Instead of offering a few facts and good advice, they sound like the local dare officer.. Swim would suggest finding a better dealer, or even better yet, a friend who has a few connections that just likes to share good times..

His dealer claims that SWIM acts cocky and that he knows everything about the drug just because SWIM feels that he's ready for it. Unfortunately, there are no other dealers that SWIM knows of in his area.

man - buy some weed form the guy - and smoke it untill you get violently sick - proove to manage yourself in such a fucked situation - and then meybe you are ready in his eyes.

it's indeed stupid that he chooses for you what you can do - but nevertheless - when people asked my friend when they were younger to do mushrooms - he always advised them to smoke a great deal of pot, and get sick form it atleast one time ... it's not the drugs that dangerous - it's the person on it that's dangerous.... if one can't handle himself in a situation where they are no linger in control - anything can happen.

and your friend - is net experienced on that matter - he could have read anything in the world - still doens't know what it is like... some one can read anything about sex - and the complete kamasutra - but when he finally goes to bed with a woman - everything could well go wrong!

SWIM would tell the dealer that if he wants any more of my business he will sell me the lsd. Unfortunately, it sounds like the dealer is just yanking your chain, and he probably can not get lsd anyway.

The reason I say this is all the dealers are more than happy to sell SWIM any drug, regardless of how "ready I am" for it.

It also sounds like your delaer had a bad experience with lsd, and if so, he is probably afraid of the stuff, and doesn't want anything else to do with it.

@ RPS: SWIY does indeed need to be a silver member to rate posts, edit posts, post attachments and post in the chemistry forums. This is not all that hard. All it takes is an informative post (or two or three) which receives some good reputation and SWIY is there.

Well, SWIM's dealer was going to drop with him the first time he tried LSD, and all the times he smoked would be with him. However, SWIM does not know if he can even afford all the weed that his dealer is going to try to sell to him. SWIM feels he is completely ready for LSD, and he needs his dealer to understand this.

A word of advice - quit harping on about it & just chill with him/her. S/he obviously respects both SWiYou & Alice, or s/he wouldn't be offering to drop with SWiYou. S/he will be looking for a certain level of maturity I imagine, & won't be seeing that in someone who is saying 'Go on, let me! Can we do it now? Can we? Can we? I'm ready now! Can we?'. Also, I'm sure this person isn't forcing SWiYouto buy anything from them - if this person is willing to sit with SWiYou, then maybe they respect SWiYou enough to be able to just go round for a natter - to share experiences & views, maybe even to have a giggle or two? Dealers are people too, & often appreciate the opportunity to interact on a level that doesn't involve trade!

Just let it slide, & when the time's right it'll happen. Although there is a lot to be said for preparation, set & setting, there is also a lot to be said for kicking back & seeing what happens; A Certain Mouse has told me on many occasions that some of his most amazing trips (including his first!) have been random, chance affairs. When Alice wants to dance, She'll come & find SWiYou. SWiYou already has 2 bases covered - potential supply & willing sitter. Remember that Lady Alice rewards the patient...

As SWIM is not sure his dealer actually has LSD, SWIM knows that his dealer is not as honerable a person as those who have not met him may think. Nevertheless, SWIM hasn't spoken about LSD to his dealer ever since, but still does not understand his dealer's reasons for withholding the LSD from him. His dealer claims to have tripped once before, and claims it was accidentally consumed in punch he drank. He claims that a couch, which was really there, disappeared, and that he went to sleep shortly thereafter. Does this sound like the effects of LSD to you? It sounds a bit strange to me.
Anyway, SWIM wants to only take a small portion of LSD to start. SWIM doesn't see the logic in not giving somebody LSD giving the reason that the person doesn't know what it feels like. Well, SWIM doesn't know what it feels like because SWIM has never had LSD before, so it appears a no-win situation.

It sounds like this person is prepared to fuck you over by giving you some other substance, then claim that you "were not properly prepared" for acid after you get burned riding on a bad PCP trip.

The dealer said he would be getting from someone that he knew for a while and trusted, not like a party where he had his first "psychedelic experience."

SWIM has planned out his first trip (where he will trip, what he will try to accomplish on the trip, who to trip with, why SWIM wants to trip) but he doesn't know where else he can find LSD besides his dealer and isn't sure when his dealer will let him buy the LSD from him.

Its not really based on what other drugs you have taken, its more of a
"How emotionally stong are you?" sort of situation.

That quote was taken from Stingray 313 on page 7 of the forum. I believe it applies perfectly to SWIM as he is completely prepared for and educated about the drug. For some reason or another, hid dealer just doesn't see that.

when swim was in 8th grade and on the bus going to school his friend said "here eat this" he had no idea what acid was or what it would do... lucky for him it was a half hit of low grade blotter and it want that intense. swim thinks your story is amusing that your dealer is that protective.

I don't think you need to be experienced with pot to try LSD. That sounds like a load of shit. I've heard of heaps of people that have taken LSD before theyve been high, or even drunk, and had a geart time.

Nothing can really prepare you for hallucinogenics in my opinion. If you know the effects to expect, and feel you're ready, then you're ready.

SWIY may not be ready, although SWIY may be well informed on the subject. SWIY should perhaps ask his cousin to hold onto some for SWIY if SWIY cannot get any of said substance back home. SWIY's cousin could save it for SWIY until SWIY becomes more experienced with intoxication in general, especially from other divine inebriants.

Get swim to tell swiy's dealer about set & setting, and swiy will have a sitter that has sat before, because it's swiy's first time and all. Also get swim to mention that he knows lsd is nothing like pot, and if the walls start to melt swiy'll enjoy it.
