Combining antagonists and agonists
A pretty simple question to which SWIM thinks he already knows the answer but justwanted to check.
If SWIM were to take a partial antagonist/agonist like Temgesic (buenorphine) and then shortly after take an agonist like morphine, SWIM assumes the morphine will justhave no effect at all. HOwever SWIM noted the doctor said that this was also dangerous. Could someone fill SWIM in to whether he is correct and why it is dangerous. Thanks for the time. |

buprenorphine itself will block any other opiates you are going to take....so either take the bupe or morphine...also the bupe will stay in your system for quite a while..wait at least a day and a half before u take any other opiate after ususing bupe (unless u wanna take the bupe again right away)

swim thinks swif is correct, swim is not sure why taking the morphine would be "dangerous", except that maybe people might end up taking a ton thinking its not "working", and still have a lot left in their system when the bupes wear off. just swims guess, not a real scientific answer though.
