Social - Parents Using Coke?

Hi Guys,

Just interested to see if there's anyone here on this forum who's parents have confessed to them that they've either experimented with coke or have been users in the past? All the more interesting if you ever thought your folks were clean cut!

SWIMs mom has admitted to him using marijuana, LSD, and cocaine in her young adult years. Now she does nothing but drink and is against SWIMS use of all drugs but accepts it.

Swim his father smokes Hasj daily. He combined his liberal way of life with educating me proparly about drugs, without propaganda but only facts. But never pushed the idea to do drugs in Swim's mind. In his younger years he did lsd, mushrooms, mescaline etc. He was straight forward about it since the day swim was born.

SWIM grew up in similar circumstances. Her mum has done many different drugs over the past 32 years.

She used to do shrooms, pot and acid in the 70's. She laid off everything, except pot and alcohol through alot of the 80's. During the 90's, for about 6 years SWIM's mum was heavily into E, speed, pot and when she could afford it, coke. The latter, she says is her ultimate drug.

Its been good for SWIM in alot of ways, growing up with a parent that takes drugs. Because she's a nurse, she knew all the pharmacology and stuff, and the physical implications involved in drug taking. She taught SWIM about responsible drug taking (she knew SWIM would experiment anyway!).

On the other side of the story, SWIM became intruiged about these fabulous, fun and exciting substances! SWIM's mum, as you can imagine, was quite liberal with the idea of her daughter taking drugs.

She didn't offer SWIM her first drug. In fact, SWIM was smoking pot for about a year before her mum found out. SWIM mum was giving her pot at 18.


At 25, SWIM had her first E..... given to her by her mum. They took the pills together with another friend.

SWIM's mum took SWIM to Sydney (from Tasmania) about 2 years ago, and they went to a party, where SWIM had her first lines of speed. Thanks again mum

Swim had her first NZ Red Hearts (piperazine pills), with her mum in December last year. SWIM bought these, and her mum was keen to try them out too.

And still, just last Sunday, SWIM's mum had some speed while she was staying with SWIM, and she offered it to SWIM.

But, SWIM has a "no-drug-except-THC-when-I'm-in-the-company-of-my-kids" rule. (I know that rule just rolls off the tongue so easily.... Quite catchy, don't you think??? lol) (oops, SWIM's stoned jibberish is somehow landing in my post!!!)

So, SWIM said no to the speed.

Anyway, that's my experience on the topic of this thread. I would be interested in reading others' experiences.

Thanks for that guys. I posted that because a female friend of swib confided recently that her mum done a bit during her formative years. You'd have never thought especially as she's very prim 'n proper!

My father admitted to me that in the 80s he was a big time dealer in Illinois and Indiana, he is no longer one , and is a owner of a Big Company in The Midwest.

What an amazing story Blue Eyes. Especially as swiy has a mum who is a nurse! I suppose in 15-20 years time there'll be even more stories like this with use growing....

Hi Guys,

Just a slight variation on the original question if anyone has had to confess to their parents that they are coke users? I guess for some people when that happens their whole world falls in on them. Was told of one person I met once who came from quite an affluent background that she was packed straight off to rehab as soon as her folks got wind of her usage. Has anyone here been in a similar situation or knows someone who has? Worse still has anyone had their stash discovered by their folks too???

During SWIMs second year of college, his parents found out about his experimentation with drugs...he was yanked from school, sent to a rehab facility in a different state and once completed his family had him transfered to a different university. His parents passed away shortly after and a stipulation to his trust fund (until 21) was random drug testing by the executive committee (along with other bullcrap). Later in lifer he found out from family members that his parent had done thier fair share of drugs during thier youth. SWIM has never had any trouble come from his drug use and to this day cannot understand the over reaction by his parents.
Anyone relating to and insight about that reaction?????

Swims whole childhood was wrapped around drugs. Luckily swims parents were VERY responsible and he was totally oblivious until his mom started talking to him about it around age 16 after she found out swim smoked some pot, which is when his father was serving his 11 year sentence for being busted with 4 pounds of weed, 2 pounds of coke, a pistol and running from the law for quite a long time (was running for 2 years, only served 4 years, now on parole, clean and running a large company). He was actually named fugitive of the month by our local news station! The constant moving from house to house never phased swim as a child, and neither did his parents eyes being red, he just thought they were tired! Apparently swims mom had the best coke connection, straight from peru, and his father was a meth cook. Mom was addicted to coke since her teens, father to heroin since his teens. They controlled a major portion of the drug flow through our state. You name it, they had it. So, every now and then she'll let out a random crazy story from the past, and swim would agree with some things and consequently let her mom know he's done that particular drug.

Argh, swim tends to go on and on when talking about his parents and drugs, sorry. So, swims mom knows he's done quite alot, but she tells him not to ever do anything again as it "frys your brain", but she admits she's just scared swim would end up like his father, relapse after relapse after relapse until finally imprisonment. Swims father knows he's smoked pot and that's all, as he's a little more hostile towards breaking the law as he doesn't want to see his son go to jail ever. Swim imagines if drugs were legal he wouldn't mind though.

The thing SWIM always hears is "We just dont want you to make the same mistakes we did", "We know whats best", and "Do as i say not as i do" The last one being complete bullshit if you ask me.

With the large percentage of young people using and trying drugs these days, i agree with bladerunner that in 15-25 years, drugs will be a lot more accepted, and our kids will be a lot better informed about drugs, and a lot more competant to make their own decisions regarding them. Then in maybe 30-40 years, if SWIM is lucky enough, there will be decriminalization for the last few years of his life. keeping his fingers crossed.

swim's parents haven't confessed it to her personally, but swim knows thru other relatives that both of her parents used cocaine as teenagers. both also used marijuana, & swim's father has also used meth & most likely other substances... one of swim's friend's mom has even (recently) used cocaine with her son. in fact, he gave her a couple lines for mother's day.

That's an amazing story! Can't imagine doing that with my folks.....

swim's mom has talked about her drug experiences a fair amount- she's tried coke, shrooms, weed, and several others swim can't remember. swim's dad tried and used even more, but talks about it slightly less. swim's dad now does research with cocaine and stress and the effects on the brain at a nearby university. swim is very happy that her parents have spoken about their drug experiences (though it seems likely swim's own drug experience has probably surpassed her parents) and the "science" behind them. although swim's parents are pretty open, swim, being the secretive individual she is, withholds all of these activities from her parents- they don't even know she drinks! it's a front she's maintained for years. eldest child syndrome perhaps... swim is surprised they haven't found out anything yet, but likes it that way for now. she predicts talking about it years from now when it won't be something that freaks them out or worries them unnecessarily.

swims dad does pot and swim jr. has an idea that swim does cocaine because in swims car was white speckles which swim jr. licked to recieve a slight numb on the tougue ^_^
