Don't know if this belongs in the "Some for all" forum, or the "Drug culture" forum - hopefully the coin flip landed the correct side. If not, I hope a moderator will move this to the correct forum section.

Below is a poem I wrote, based on a dream an acquaintance of mine had back in 2004, when he was still in high school (the beginnings of his drug experimentation). He has found that many of his dreams as of late, involve people he's never met before, and doesn't recognize - but the overall feelings and ideas that he encounters in his dreams, give the impression that he knows them and feels true, deep emotions towards them. Has anyone else experienced dreams like these? Perhaps these dream people that SWIM encounters are rendered from his subconscious - kind of like people you glance at as you walk down the street, or while taking the bus - only to be given an identity later in the dream world?

Or perhaps these dream people are simply produced by ones own mind - figments created by the lingering effects of various substances?

Anyway, this particular dream that SWIM had was not directly caused by narcotic consumption. He had abstained for around 4 months, from any kind of recreational chemical, in order to focus solely on school. And at the time, the only substances that SWIM had been introduced to, were alcohol, weed, and ephedrine. This poem that I wrote tries to sum up the pure emotions that SWIM felt whilst dreaming. As I recall, he told me that the morning after waking up, he felt crushed by an overwhelming sense of loss. A very strange predicament - feeling for someone who may or may not even exist in our physical reality.

I'm no doctor of the mind - But if there are any educated individuals browsing the forums, any insight would be appreciated. Or similar experiences.... or feedback about the poem in general, from anyone.

Here it is. I'm no Shakespeare, but let me state that all copyrights on the poem below, go to me.

February Second, Twenty-two Twenty-two,
Was the day that they came for me and you,
The day the human race was given the clue,
That aliens existed ; the rumors were true.

It started from the sky, beams of light falling,
Striking people down, leaving them crawling,
I could hear them screaming, moaning and calling,
They were the victims of the aliens’ first mauling.

Chaos erupted, and we didn’t know what to do,
The world was in a panic, the anxiety grew and grew,
Should we fight back? No time to think it through,
It was then that the ship came into our view.

It quickly appeared, from out behind a cloud,
We hid in the bushes and kept our heads bowed,
It flew overhead of us, and through some trees it plowed,
Before landing in a clearing - the aliens emerged in a crowd.

I strained my eyes, and from what I could see,
The aliens had ray guns, just like on TV,
They vaporized civilians, turned buildings to debris,
Murdering all in their path without a shred of dignity.

I looked into your eyes, and all I saw was fear,
I told you not to worry, that we’d run away from here,
I tried to comfort you, even though I was unclear,
Of what to do next – the aliens were drawing near.

We decided to run, as fast as we could,
We sprinted through valleys, over river, through wood,
We continued to run, and we knew that we should,
For the aliens were killers, they had no sense of good.

We hid in a forest for a length of seven days,
And when we emerged all we could see was a haze,
Smoke in the air and charred remains in our gaze,
All the cities and towns, the aliens did raze.

We looked for survivors, through wreckage we did pry,
But we couldn’t find anyone, nothing caught our eye,
Tired and weary, you started to cry,
And I tried to be strong, tried to hold my head high.

I took your hand in mine, and I started to speak,
And I guess it was that moment, that the aliens did sneak,
From behind us they came, and you let out a shriek,
I tried to fight them off, but to them, I was weak.

The next thing I remember, is waking up in this cell,
I was on board the spaceship, my first day in Hell,
As to why they didn’t kill me, I still cannot tell,
I've tried to escape, but my efforts they always quell.

They took me to a room, and I was surprised to find,
That there were other humans here, others of my kind,
I was happy for a moment, but then it started to unwind,
As I frantically looked left and right, forward and behind.

The aliens stood watching as I ran among the few,
Pointing and observing as I searched in vain for you,
I asked the fellow humans, but all I got was "who?",
I realized that you weren’t here, in this sinister alien zoo.

What happened to you, I still don’t know,
Years have passed, and you never did show,
And to this day, the tears still flow,
Although I gave up hope, long ago

This is my story, and the irony has been embossed,
The day the nations united, and our differences were tossed,
Was the day it all fell apart and our world was lost
It was doomsday for the human race ; the Alien Holocaust.

We are slowly becoming extinct, either dying or going insane,
It has been decades since the peoples of Earth finally met their bane,
Every night I pray for death, to rid me of this pain,
And every night I pray that one day, I’ll see your face again.

Mmmmm, forgot to add that SWIM also happens to be an avid fan of the Stargate SG1 TV show.
