Was he on drugs?

Police are investigating whether a British teenager who tried to shoot a man who told him off for dangerous driving, was under the influence of drugs. A police source told 7DAYS last night that while the incident is still under investigation, “blood tests are currently being conducted and we are looking at all possibilities including drugs and alcohol”.

The 19-year-old British teenager reportedly attacked Gulzar Zain, a Pakistani national, on Friday after Zain asked him to stop racing his 4X4 near Al Safa Park area in Jumeirah, where many parents take their children.

The teenager rushed to a house near the Al Raadi school, opened a window and shot at Zain’s car with a rifle, hitting the car’s windscreen and missing the 35-year-old father of a three-year-old girl by just a few inches.

When police arrived at the teenager’s villa, he first denied the shooting but later confessed when questioned at Bur Dubai police station, according to reports. Zain last night spoke of his terror as the bullet hit his car.

“That bullet could have killed me. I don’t know why he shot at me. I was very shocked and scared when the bullet hit the windscreen. I slammed on the brakes but I gathered my courage and went to the house.”

And Zain insisted that despite his lucky escape, he would still do it all again. “If I see someone doing something wrong I’ll definitely tell them to stop,” he told 7DAYS. “What happens after that is in the hands of Allah.”
