Banging cola leaves SWIM feeling a bit edgy sometimes. Mostly he's just learned to live with it, but there was one thing in particular that was driving him crazy. Every time he did a nice blast and started getting the taste in his mouth and the super-spiderman-hearing, he was sure he could hear someone in the hall just outside the door.

At this point he had two choices: get up and look thru the peep hole and inevitably see no one, or stay in the chair and convince himself there was no one there.

Then one day he went on ebay and bought 2 wireless spycams and the accompnying gadgetry. He set one camera up surrepticiously outside his door and now when he's feeling a bit edgy, he just leaves that monitor feed up on one of the monitors so he can glance up at will and see the hallway is empty.

This wasn't a "must be done" project, more of a "playful paranoia + computer gadgetry geek" project. Whole thing cost about $150 or so and SWIM asssures me there will we lots of uses for it in the future.

This picture was taken at night on a Treo so it kinda sucks, but the monitor on the laptop (left) is the video feed from the hallway outside his door. Dorky, sure, but you gotta at least smile at the thought that this actually got done

That IS a mini pin hole cam, complete w/ microphone But SWIM only knows about his, not about anyone else's that may be lurking.

Swim had all that super-spy equipment before, found out he was spending all his time watching the monitors instead of enjoying the moment. Nowdays, he keeps all the blinds open and try not to worry about the other people watching.

It's worked out great for SWIM. He runs 2 monitors off one system and usually doesn't bother with the hall cam. On the rare occasions that he's feeling edgy, he run the hall cam on one monitor. Since there's zero activity in the hall ever, he never actually watches it. It's just a comfort knowing it's there.

And it was a fun little project. He'd been wanting to play with pinhole spycams for a while and this turned out to be the perfect excuse.
