Saturday Night Palsy
The other weekend SWIM heavily indulged in a large amount of xanax and morphine. The events of the latter portion of the evening are blurry to nonexistent. However when swim woke up out of this comatose like state the next afternoon, he ws startled to find he could not properly rotate his wrist and fingers, and a numbing sensation was felt when he touched his lower hand. Upon visit to an orthopedist they questioned SWIM about what he had been doing the night before he woke up with the injury (this set off alarms as swim is a generally paranoid person). However the doctor questioned alcohol intoxication, and swim went along with it (didn't really feel it was neccessary to throw in the little tidbit i was slamming opiates and chasing them with downers). It seems swim damaged the radial nerve in his left arm during an unconscious, drug induced slumber. Turns out when one is rendered unconscious, the brain stops sending signals through the spinal cord. These signals would make a sober person turn over due to increased pressure on a certain area on the body. SWIM was advised to purchase an over the counter wrist splint, and improvements should be fast approaching.
Has anyone gone through this "Saturday night palsy"?
