setting a group in line for a tripp

So this weekend I am hosting an Aztec themed Tripp.

Probably starting around 4 in the afternoon with a vegan BBQ and firepit in the backyard. Sunset will mark the start of the main activities. The sacrament will be mixed into water, with chocolate nibs (the part before you press out the coco butter and seperate the coco powder), cornmeal, chillis, agave nectar (like honey but vegan), and syrian rue concentrate. This will be poured back and forth untill a froth forms. This is a reasonably traditional Aztec recipie.

I plan on reciting hymns to Xochipilli
and Macuilxochitl, during the preperation of the drink. If I can get it done, I may don a head dress, and have henna done in the style of Xochipilli.

Here is a bit of an issue. The group will consist of aproximately 12 people, this is making a few of the guests nervous, saying that they've never tripped with this many folks. Alot of them will be meeting for the first time. The group is pretty pagan (almost all of us go to Brushwood for pagan festivals), with a non-mystical Jew, and my ex, an open-minded Chrisitan. We have been trying to work out a group unifying excercise to help bring everyone together and focus the trip.

My secondary host, like myself works O.T.O. magick, and I don't think this is entirely the way to go. Most of our stuff is pretty solitary oriented, and frankly, can be pretty grating (if not outright offensive) to people unfamiliar with the 93 current.

I'm looking for meditations, chants, practices, pretty much anything to bring everyone into the circle and start to direct the tripp to a more spiritual end. What sort of things have you guys done to this end? I am going to get those who can, to bring drums, but that is only a start.

Swim was actually sitting here brainstorming a session himself, strange he came across this when he did really. Though swim has never been entirely succesful in this, swim feels the trick to getting the group geared in a more serious, less "wow im so high" kind of path is setting a good example and having people there who will actually want a spiritual trip rather than just cool visuals. Swim suggests bringing information, new ideas, books taylored to what you are looking for in the session, and also meditations. Just try to get everyone interested in the topic at hand.

Swim is considering just a 3-5 person session out at a beautiful private beach by a beautiful lake by a fire. Swim is going to try to focus on the mind itself and its complexities. Will update soon. Best of luck to you and your session.

is the theobromine in the coco going to react in a bad kind of way with the rue, because that would be a concern.

Re: setting a group in line for a tripp

How did your experiance go potter?

Ive heard some people claim theobrmine is potentiated by MAOis and when used in conjunction with a triptamine it can greatly increase the effects in ways one would not expect from just using a maoi + triptaimine. cocoa works as a MAOB im not sure how that would react combined with an MAOI..

Quote:
If theobromine is a competitive inhibitor of MAO, then one would expect structural similarities between theobromine and the substrates of MAO (although the structural similarities are not always obvious as is the case with some estrogen receptor antagonists [like tamoxifen]). However, for a small molecule to interact with MAO, it does not necessarily need to mimick the structure of the enzyme's substrates. There are many examples of small molecules inhibiting an enzyme by binding to pockets far away from the enzyme's active site, which does not require the molecule to be a substrate analog. Furthermore, small molecules could also affect MAO activity by binding enzymes which act upstream of MAO/regulate the activity of MAO.

Wow Potter thats a truly awesome idea. I'm jealous. Where's my invite. I liked your idea so much I may borrow it. Our research group gets together from time to time but we never plan out anything like this. What a great idea. There is plenty of time before Halloween or Bonfire night I think I will try to put something together. Please let everyone know how it went. I am really looking forward to reading it.
