Teen to face murder for supplying drugs

Teen to face murder for supplying drugs
From Staff Reports
RALEIGH - A Wake County judge found Thursday that there was enough evidence to bring murder charges against a 16-year-old boy accused of supplying a friend with a deadly mixture of drugs.
Cary police charged the boy with murder in January, nearly four months after the death of Erica Hicks, 16, a junior at Southeast Raleigh High School. Hicks died Oct. 3 after ingesting a mixture of cocaine, methamphetamine and ecstasy, according to an investigative report.
Police also charged the boy with knowingly delivering a controlled substance and with possession of ecstasy with intent to sell and deliver.
The boy's name has not been released because he was 15 when he was charged. This week's court hearing, which took place over two days, was closed to the public at the request of the boy's attorneys. The ruling in Juvenile Court means that the boy will be tried on the murder charge. Still to be determined is whether the case will move to Superior Court, where the boy would be tried as an adult.

That really sucks, especially at such a young age. I'm sure the kid didn't tie down his friend and make him take the drugs (murder), though. Poor kid, his life is screwed now, facing murder charges as an adult...
