Just wondering if anyone knows any bible passages that contradict the modern Christian's views against drugs? For humour's sake....

Genesis 1:29 involves the use of herbs and plants, consumed orally... although I guess one could argue that the substances aren't eaten with nourishment as the primary objective.

Well, I'd like to think it means that whatever you ingest it will not in itself make you a bad person. Bad people give themselves away by what they say and not what they ingest. Sounds good to me.....although I can see several flaws in this line of thinking......throw another prophet in the pot there......

I actually used these two Jesus quotes in an ceramics art project back in high school. I made a stone slab and put a cross in the middle, which seperated the two contradictory quotes, and splattered the whole thing with blood (red paint). My teacher wasn't very keen on the project...

Can't be too literal with the bible. I was just reading about studies where rats lived longer when fed a diet of cardboard then those fed a diet of corn flakes, and I'm sure the bible isn't talking about processed foods. Even though it would be easy to twist dick around and make it look that way.

They were divided into three groups: one group received corn flakes and water; a second group was given the cardboard box that the corn flakes came in and water; the control group received rat chow and water. The rats in the control group remained in good health throughout the experiment. The rats eating the box became lethargic and eventually died of malnutrition. But the rats receiving the corn flakes and water died before the rats that were eating the box! (The last corn flake rat died the day the first box rat died.) But before death, the corn flake rats developed schizophrenic behavior, threw fits, bit each other and finally went into convulsions. The startling conclusion of this study is that there was more nourishment in the box than there was in the corn flakes.

This experiment was actually designed as a joke, but the results were far from funny. The results were never published and similar studies have not been conducted.
