Ayahuasca: defining general influence
hi there.
i'm doing a little research about the ayahuasca experience. what i wondered was: how do you people see the influence it has on your life? what happens to a person not under the influence but after the experience. what subjects are important for an ayahuasquero. life, death, pain, fear, love, beauty, ego, family, nature...??? so what is the effect you people experience from the use of ayahuasca. do you consider it as a magick potion that solves problems or do you need to 'work' on your goals. is it a diffrent substance than other substances - does it have a unique and 'status' like power - or is it just like other psychoactives? |

Few people have actually done ayahuasca in it's shamanistic state, the famed brew that purges the self. It really isn't the same with pharmahuasca or simply DMT, and its influences tend to find root in the backdrop and preparation rather than the substance itself, in my opinion.

thank you for pointing that out to me. i believed that alot of eople on the forum actually are active ayahuasca users. people that saw the power of the brew and chose to learn from it deeply.
english isn't my native language so would you please explain what you mean with "its influences tend to find root in the backdrop and preparation rather than the substance itself" thanks for replying. why i ask this question is because i'm making a small documentary. and i need to know what to focus on so i don't miss any important questions. i will also follow a subject who will activly partake a ritual, and i going to interview the author of 'ayahuasca: critic of the psychedelic ratio' (in bad translation). the interview is today btw - so got to hurry and get ready .tnx |

Psychedelics (when I say psychedelic I refer to anything at all that expands the mind, true the to direct definition, substance or situation) such as ayahuasca open the mind to suggestions first, and produce hallucinations on their own accord secondarily.
I've tried pharmahuasca a couple times (Harmaline(MAOi) follow by DMT) and it didn't have much of a depth of impact. Nothing even close to life changing or spiritual. I imagine much of the truly purging ingredients are found in the mix of herbal medicines put in the brews and that the DMT sensitizes the mind to such suggestions as well as the ritualistic preparation that instills a sense of profound insight and anticipatory openmindedness. http://nationalgeographic.com/advent...ures/peru.html That article holds solid insight into the process, not in just the opinions of the writer but the state of mind that she obtains. Also note that the preparation varies and the herbs mixed in the brew vary by the focus of the ritual and a lot of the effects on the writer reek of placebo (in the best possible sense), ayahuasca isn't the sole psychedelic factor. |
