DXM dosing question re seemingly-resistant new user

SWIM has had two furstrating first experiences with DXM in the past 14 days.

Session 1 consisted of 300mg pure DXM in the form of DexAlone gelcaps taken on an empty stomach. Within 15 minutes there were some effects: lightheadedness and a slight body high. The lightheadedness increased, peaking after about 90 minutes. At that time SWIM felt "both drunk and stoned" as described for the first plateau in the literature. SWIM watched Howl's Moving Castle on DVD and could not follow the plot, though it was unusually enjoyable. When SWIM stood and walked he was slightly unsteady. Vision was not noticeably blurred. Then, after about 180 minutes in total the effects quickly wore off. SWIM slept well and had a slight headache the next day, treated easily with Nurofen.

Session 2 (14 days later) consisted of 450mg pure DXM, again in the form of DexAlone gelcaps, this time taken an hour after food. The results were very disappointing. There was only a slight lightheadedness and (promisingly) some euphoria after about 30 minutes and this gradually wore off.

SWIM is a physically fit male of 75kg and an experienced user of psychedelics (20 years on and off). For some reason he is metabolically resistant to the effects of most drugs, needing more than other psychonauts for the same effect, though this has not been the case with the classical hallucinogens. Perhaps SWIM needs to continue upping the dose. Would 100mg increments be sufficient or should SWIM try a substantially larger measure straight away?

Uping your dose gradually would probley be the safest way to go about it. 450 mg should give you a good first to second plateau trip...If you are not where you want to be as you said just bump it up in 100mg increments and see where you are at from there...Just don't go overboard and go 1000 +.....

Try around 600-650mg and see how you feel...
