Re: Making a crude coca leaf extract ?

Hello, Swims rat would like to add a little bit more info on his dilute HCl full spec coca extract. The rat recently did an extract with 100g coca flour. The flour on retrospect is somewhat more difficult to work with then ground leaves because it is a bitch to filter but works very well never the less.

Note: this is not a very precise procedure nor does it need to be IMHO...

-100g. flour weighed out and placed in 2 L beaker
-800 ml water is added to a 1 L beaker
-Enough ~30% HCl is added to the water to get a pH of about 2 maybe a couple ml's?
-The water is poured into the 2 L beaker with powder (gently w/stiring).
Note: A pH of 5.8 was measured prior to heating.
-2 L beaker placed on hot plate with stir bar just beging to create a vortex
-Temperature was brought up to around 70 deg C.
-Was kept at temp for about 3 hours then hot plate was turned off
-After an hour or two (still quite warm to touch) it was filtered using just coffee filters in a buchner filter
Note: it would work much beter while using the flour to use the buchner as designed with vacuum etc.

Once this was filtered it was placed in a pyrex deep dish pie pan (maybe ~500 ml very dark solution) and brought up to around 60 deg C until it became very dark and oily. Watch it towards the end and reduce or kill the heat so it doesn't burn. On cooling it hardened, so you may want to scrape it up into balls or whatever before.

Mix with bico and enjoy...

Improvements and suggestions would be most welcome.

Peace, Mush

Re: Making a crude coca leaf extract ?

Can we get any suggestions on how much bico to mix in with a standard size of the extracted resin/paste ? (SWIM doesn't like to put straight bico in the mouth, SWIM usually dilutes in a few mL of water to create a "mouth wash" of sorts...)
