John Lilly, Ketamine and The Entities From ECCO

by Adam Gorightly, ConspiracyArchive.com

Quote:
In the early 70's, John Lilly was introduced to the drug Ketamine by Dr. Craig Enright in the hopes of alleviating the pain associated with Lilly's chronic migraine headaches, which he had been suffering like clockwork — every 18 hours — for most of his often-adventurous life. Lilly, at the time, was at Esalen Institute conducting seminars when one of these massive migraines hit him. In situations such as these, Lilly withdrew into privacy, to suffer alone through the many endless hours of severe discomfort. It was at this time that Enright suggested to Lilly that he enter into the Esalen isolation tank and receive an injection of Ketamine, in the prospect that it would in some way cure him of his affliction. Lilly in the past had tried a similar experiment with LSD, but it proved unsuccessful, and the terrible headaches persisted. In the earlier LSD-assisted experiment, Lilly attempted to reprogram his human bio-computer in such a way as to eliminate the faulty circuits that were causing him such distress. The experiment failed, but now once again Lilly the Scientist was searching for an answer and a cure to his malignant malady.
As Lilly floated in the isolation tank fluid, Enright injected him with 35 milligrams of Ketamine (K). Within a few minutes, Lilly could actually visualize the migraine pain moving out of his skull, to a point levitated there in apperceived space, Lilly felt no pain whatsoever for some twenty minutes, until it once again reentered his head. When Lilly began moaning and groaning in his water-filled sanctum of pain, Enright injected him with another 70 milligrams. This time Lilly felt the pain moving farther away, twelve feet this time. Thirty minutes later the migraine lightning bolt of pain came rushing back, lodging itself once again into Dr. Lilly's head. Enright reloaded his syringe and shot the good doctor up with 150 milligrams. This time when the pain vacated Lilly's head it kept on going and didn't come back; clear over the horizon, never to be seen again. An hour later, after the K wore off, Lilly climbed out of the tank, a new man.

While I have no doubt that the "psychedelic experience" can alleviate suffering from migraines - permanently - I also doubt John Lilly represents a good example of this. A true migraine lasts for many hours. Sometimes days. So having one like clockwork every 18 hours is sheer bunk. J. would have been in a perpetual migraine-state. Ask anyone who has/had migraine headaches what that is like.

While the conditions of a migraine are likely triggered, from my research, by psychological factors - the usage of a drug such as ketamine will not likely elicit a cure. To discover the underlying psychological factors that create the pain could just as easily exacerbate it.

Bottom Line: John C. Lilly is a lucky nut-bar (I can see him with his measuring-tape now...12 feet away!). Don't try this at home, kids. Your parents would likely complain about the Dolphin (this comes later) you are keeping in the bathtub.

I didn't post this a cure for migraines, although it might read that way! (BTW, the dolphins came before not after the ketamine-- "Be quiet, Flipper, I haven't got time to talk to you now!")

But John Lilly is interesting to know about in reference to ketamine. Reading about him, DW Turner and Marcia Moore is enough to put you off taking ketamine too often. Neither Turner nor Moore survived their addictions, and Lilly was very lucky too (many times). Lilly was on more than one occasion interred because of his ketamine addiction, although it should be noted that he had a history of psychonalysis and drug abuse, the ketamine aside.

Maybe he saw the doctor from South Park who turned Kyle's dad into a dolphin. Or he was suffering from a homo-erotic disorder for Bud and Sandy. The things Flipper could do with it's nose! Oh baby!

His research with dolphins did reveal that they are very sexually active creatures! Only an expert can tell the two sexes apart, as the male's organ tucks itself away until ready for use.
