Ritalin: to snort or swallow?

Hey all.

SWIM recently got ritalin prescribed to him by his psychiatrist and, of course, wants to abuse it. SWIM eventually wants to make his psychiatrist think he needs something stronger so he can get some aderall, but for now this is what he's got. So SWIM is wondering whether to snort it or just ingest it? Right now he's thinking about doing 36 mg (he's got 18 mg pills) and is looking to be awake and hopefully have some fun effects if possible. Can anyone weigh in on the topic?

BTW I just want to note that what SWIM is taking is technically concerta, if that makes any difference (it's still a methylphenidate or however you spell it, it's basically the same as ritalin.)

SWIM has never gotten concerta to "work" for a proper high, not in the way that brand-name ritalin or focalin does. something about the inactive ingredients, or the way its time released (if swim recalls correctly, concerta is time release methylphenidate), but swim could never get high from it. swim guesses to start lower than 18 mg, ESPECIALLY if swiy is going to snort it, since swiy has no idea how swiy could react to it. maybe half that dose for starters. swim also thinks it may work better to crush and parachute, since theres likely alot of nasty inactives that wont absorb through the nasal route.

SWIM seconds forthesevenlakes reply snorting is more work than its worth because of all the anti-abuse fillers they put in them. Crush them up and swallow them down, it will be a more intense feeling than taking them normally.

Alright, but how much would you reccomend swallowing at once? Like how much to just stay awake, how much to have a lot of fun?

BTW, SWIM's brother takes just plain 20 mg ritalin (methylphendiate) tablets, so SWIM tried those today. Crushed and snorted one before school, one third period , and one at lunch. School was much more interesting. But still, the high wasn't that amazing for him. Do you think SWIM could've gotten a better high if he parachuted them? (And he'd like to know what "parachute" means exactly.)

parachuting is crushing up a pill or the contents of a gelcap, then either putting the powder into the original gelcap or some small swallowable sheet, (most people SWIM knows use toilet paper), bundle it up, and swallow. when it gets to the stomach, the increased surface area (and the fact that swiy got past the time release) will lead to better absorption and (ideally) a better high. it won't be as intense as snorting generally (unless the compound you're snorting cant be absorbed nasally), but should last longer. for methylphenidate, SWIM gets recreational effects from 5 mg, but SWIM is a lightweight when it comes to those drugs. 20 mgs should be working well for swiy, the thing is that methylphenidate isnt that intense or amazing of a high to begin with, maybe a mild euphoria so swiy cant expect too much.

Swim thinks it all comes down to this. Snorting it will give one a more intense but shorter lasting high. Eating it will not be as intense, but will last longer. Decide what Swim wants

why not snort one (although swim thinks snorting ritalin is icky) and parachute one, that's what swim does with adderall sometimes. works like a charm, snorting kicks it in and by the time that's starting to wear off the parachuted one is starting to take effect cheerio!

Well i wouldn't snort or eat it for your purpose, snort though definatly to answer your q. I'm Not familiar with concerta though, ritalin.

SWIM advises you to give your nose and lungs a rest. SWIM has read it's a dirty coke but SWIM's friends usually want the 2-4 hour Go then the 15 min of euphoria and 2 hours of Go which I hear is followed by a nice little depressing crash.

SWIM would also advise generic ritalin tabs. Easier to medicate then with a anti-abuse timer pill.

SWIM prefers the feeling of orally ingesting the methylphenidate. SWIM has snorted it before, it gives a nice rush, but it is short lived. WHen SWIM takes it orally....it is GO!GO !GO! for 8 hours.....I like this better.

Others would disagree with me im sure, but concerta IMO can only be taken orally, It's a waste of time trying to extract MPH from them.

Concerta cannot be snorted due to anti-abuse sit (as said above) so SWIY should pop the crushed pill instead. SWIdr is not suggesting someone try this, but he wonders what would happen if someone administered methylephenidate recally....
