Paraphernalia - alternative to cigarette lighters when on a crack binge

I know what you mean, last night swim had another 15 foily night (with at least 3 hits in each foily thats at least 45 hits!) so the top of swims thumb has been numb all day. And witht the isopropyl alcohol, because it burns hotter than a normal lighter, would it cause the foily to burn differently? The only reason I ask this is because I've done 'knife hits' with weed, and because the knives are SO hot, it makes the high feel different.

Yes, a cotton ball with 90% isopropyl alcohol will give the optimum temp to vaporize the resins. Although most use BIC style lighters, with on/off routine to regulate temp. Crack has a specific temp that is required to vaporize the resins properly, thats why SWIM can watch users and tell their experience by the way they hit thier gadget.

swim father told me back in the day when he used to smoke base that he would use a qtip and dip it in bacardi 151 and light it and use it to light the hit. he said it would burn for a while and wouldnt leave any black spots on the pipe like lighters do sometimes. swim has never done it but is considering have his father show him how to properly do it

SWIM has never done a "Foily" and from what he knows about them you may experience some differances. He feels a small test would remove all doubt, also a test on the foil itself would be a good idea to ensure that there would'nt be damage/melting of the foil.

Swim feels your pain. Swim has had many nights where his lighters run out or break apart and he ends up lighting a candle and getting shitty fucked up hits from his meth or crack pipe. Swim broke a lot more lighters with meth though.

When swim was a real ice head, he had a permanent thick calisis(sp?) on his thumb. Swim used to try wrapping his thumb in electrical tape.

Swim started using a mini torch for meth, but could never get it to work well for crack.

Well, SWIM was going to suggest as some others did using a torch that uses butane, but was going to say she has never done crack to know if it would work. Seems odd that it wouldn't as SWIM smokes meth and knows that while her glass dick has a bulb and a crack pipe has no bowl, SWIM is curious as to why it didn't work for jord4n007's friend?

The wind resistant lighter is the same thing as a torch SWIM believes, but could be wrong. SWIM knows that w/a torch you can adjust the flame to your desired intensity, so maybe they are not the same. Or maybe the wind resistant lighter that was discussed earlier was a model that didn't allow for adjustments. SWIM says you can go to a pharmacy and they tend to have them for around $4-6, fairly cheap to see if it works. If so, SWIM will then suggest going to a head shop to purchase a better quality (more expensive) one, as she has had the cheap one's crap out in the middle of a session and can say it's no fun. SWIM now has 2 cheap one's and 1 $20 one, backup is key!

SWIM suggests going to a head shop and talking w/the clerks as another option, as they tend to know these types of things. SWIM is sure there is some sort of code for "crack pipe" as a meth pipe's code is incense burner, so just ask them what type of lighter is best for your type of pipe. This is exactly how SWIM started using a torch instead of a crappy bic type lighter! SWIM is going to assume OP is experienced with how to speak w/out incriminating when at such a store, if not, do some research!

SWIM was actually told by a shop owner about the cotton ball/alcohol method which surprised her as she was there to purchase a torch! She hasn't tried it as it sounds like a lot of work and that she'd probably burn herself or the whole damned house down as the flame indeed is hot!

SWIM suggests SWIY google Bernzomatic, Powercell, Trigger Start, Propane Torch Kit, seems ideal for working with pyrex glass ware.

But now that swim has tested the Bernzomatic, Powercell, Trigger Start, Propane Torch Kit TSPC8KC vs a Bernzomatic TS8000 with a Fat Boy canister, he has to recommend a TS4000, TS7000, or TS8000 with a Fat Boy propane cannister. DO NOT USE MAPP GAS!

SWIM has a TS8000, and as soon as you release the trigger it goes out, and its flame adjusts much better than the smaller torch, making it safer.

Nobody is likely to pocket your torch and walk off with it, and propane doesn't have the horrible taste butane does.

Cowboy recommends that you use a refillable butane pipe lighter. Cowboy uses his to smoke weed, though, but it can also be used for anything else that is smoked. The flame comes out the side so you never burn your fingers. Cowboy smokes daily, a couple bowls in the morning after waking up and 2-3 bowls before going to bed to help him sleep. He finds that if he maintains this pattern of use, the gas lasts him about 5 days before he has to refill it again. The model Cowboy has is the Prometheus Sherlock, which uses electronic ignition instead of flint, so you don't inhale any toxic metal particles. Burning butane is also better than kerosene or regular lighter fluid because the only products are CO2 and water, which are harmless. Inside the bottom of Cowboy's pipe there fits a pipe tamper, which is a thin metal rod with a flat end that Cowboy uses to pack his weed (which would be irrelevant in this case), but it also has a scraper on the other end that can be used to scrape shit out of any crack pipe as well. Use only high quality butane fuel. Make sure it says "filtered" or "refined" somewhere on the bottle. Smoke shops almost always have high quality butane available. Has SWIY tried bee line? It's a thin little rope covered in honey that SWIY lights and then puts into the bowl. Now there's no butane in it and the hit tastes like honey.
