"Drug Raid Leads to the Arrest of Seven Men
SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP)- A drug raid in Springfield leads to the arrest of seven men, ages 19 - 25, six of whom are students at Western New England College. According to Sergeant John Delaney of the Springfield Police Department, the narcotics division raided 104 Leitch Street just after 10 p.m. Tuesday night after a lengthy investigation. Police had been keeping an eye on the off campus house after receiving complaints from neighbors suspicious about the number of people coming and going at all hours. Inside, police allegedly found cocaine and marijuana along with nearly $3,000 in cash, cell phones, a laptop computer and marijuana growing equipment. If found guilty, all seven suspects face a mandatory seven years in jail. The house at 104 Leitch Street was not owned by WNEC but was a sanctioned "off campus living space." The Gumlaw brothers are being investigated by police as the "kingpins" of the operation. 21-year-old Wesley Gumlaw of Springfield is the only person arrested who is not a student at WNEC."
