Smoked Datura as a Potentiator of other psychoactives
I have read varoius reports of Datura, or more specifically Tropane alkaloids potentiating other substances including opiates, mescaline and cannabis.
This sounds like far more fun than a full blown Datura trip, not too mention a much safer method of use. (Note: I said safer, not safe.) Although Datura (and also other nightshades) are generally considered extremely dangerous, I personally believe smoking to be pretty safe. I have tried this several times (leaves, flowers, seeds) with only mild effects. In fact, Datura was once a common ingredient of cigeretes used in the treatment of astma. I have read reports of many Australians smoking Brugmansia mixed with various other things (nicotinia rustica, cannabis, sida sp) with nice effects. Apparently in India however, chillums filled with Datura seed extract laced hash were given to travellers who where then raped and robbed, and generally came too a couple of days later with no memory of what had happened. So, who has experience with smoking Datura in a mix? Perhaps this holds potential to crank up some of the milder entheogens like damiana, passion flower, catmint, skullcap, hops, wild dagga, kanna, blue lotus? |

I would not call that safe. A mix is normally not homogenous, which imposes a risk of variation in dose. This is something to be very careful about.
There are various varieties of Datura. I remember speaking to a certain ethnobotanical expert, which was in fond of smoking Datura flower. He would only use one specific variety. One specific color. My memory fails me on further details, but my point is that there is variation in alkoaloid content per plant, per part of the plant used and per variety. Add that to the above and you've got reason to be extra careful. Datura and the like have been used as additives to many mixtures & brews, like Ayahuasca, peyote and san pedro brew. |

If SWIM dosen't want people to end up tripping for 3 days on the nightshades, then the most information that is shared in an ethical manner will make extra careful people. SWIM has taken nightshades for various purposes and has never ended up tripping for 3 days let alone 24 hours. SWIM advocates medicinal use, if spiritual medicine is needed then he will slightly enhance the dosage and have a very insightful experience in which he finds solutions and face his own system of truth. SWIM agrees that not everyone has the maturity to handle this plant and that it can be deadly dangerous. I understand SWIM'z have alot of anger seeing such questions about the blotter story and such, but it is no reason to "call me" a liar, SWIM's experience is truth. SWIM says variety is not really important, dosage and sensibility is. SWIM has taken about 20 old (maybe 2 years) and dried seeds of one variety and tripped for about 6 hours before falling asleep. He would call it a very enjoyable experience as it put him in a dreamy state and made him see things that were not really here, like his pet cat walking on him as a semi-shadowy form. He also enjoyed indian music to the utmost, everytime he woke up alright and purposefully knew he was not going to stand up and do things without his awareness, that happens at a crazy dose ! Of all his experiences he has not once came close to loosing reason ; if someone would face an accidental overdose of datura he should always remember to !!!let go!!! and !!!hold to!!! your life, sounds paradoxal ? SWIM also says when you intend to use it as spiritual medicine (a LIGHTLY higher dosage) you have to plan a whole night and the day after to recover, it's very heavy and yucky on the body, and always have a sitter (someone to take care of you, preferrably stronger in case you have unconscious violent tendencies, and he must be SOBER) Seems to me SWIM'z are trying to enforce a power here... To get back on topic SWIM smoked datura many times and he enjoys it, particularly the flowers. Of course SWIM carefully approached this particular variety and tested it very carefully, taking a week between attempts, and he found his dose of course it will not make SWIM feel "great" and everytime the trip is very heavy and insightful, but he also warns indeed to be very careful ; only the flowers are meant to be smoked, it's definately the least potent part of his variety ! swim would like to point out that the above post is the only positive thing that swim has ever seen written about a datura "trip". most other people report hallucinations and delusions (often terrifying) culminating in encounters with the police, parents, or doctors. swia must have one powerful liver if (s)he's never ended up tripping for days...this drug is not something to be taken lightly, and just because it is available on roadsides doesnt mean its a brilliant idea to take it. no offense is meant, swim just doesnt want some newbie reading this and thinking its okay to start grinding datura seeds because they cant find mushrooms or something.

Of course !
Yes SWIM has a powerful liver, and the dosage was very low... SWIM could well take 5 seeds of most varieties and not feel much of anything, exept very positive hormonal balance and some aphrodisiac power. But of course it's not safe, but the concentration of active principle is limited by nature ; you notice nothing eats this plant, even insects ? You won't find one seed with more than twice the content of the next... or I have yet to see this by chemical analisis. It's as strong as it gets naturally, SWIM can even get high on the smell ! If SWIM can honor nature and approach logically then there he knows there is a gift in every plant, that does not mean SWIM has to eat it. But I warn you do not take SWIM's warnings like a grain of salt... How do you explain in gesture how salt tastes like... ? Namase, Ahu Last edited by Ahuaeynjx; 11-06-2006 at 09:38. |

I guess we can conclude that Datura use does not make people brilliant. You say this poison increases your hormones. Acts as an aphrodisiac. Good stuff, eh? You recommend people give it a whirl, huh? Well baby - it's not gonna happen here. Both a moderator and the administrator of this site have made it clear that we will not allow this to be suggested. We are not idiots or fools. You, on the other hand, remain a conundrum.
For instance: Your signature. Namase? It's spelled 'Namaste' and it means "I worship the light I see shining behind your eyes." Regards why you wish our readers to think that trying datura would be an okay thing to do remains the worst advice I can think of. We care about our members and guests. You care about something that can kill them dead. Have a nice trip. You are banned! |
