Curious - methadone

Hi all. I am really worried about my friend. She is on methodone for a serious opiate problem. So she's supposedly kicked the habit; however, she has been acting strangely lately and there is some sort of black residue in her nostrils. Could she be snorting something. if so what do you think it is? I have understood that methodone blocks any high from an opiate. so i don't think its black tar heroin. any ideas?

Methadone is a partial opiate antagonist, meaning it will, with high enough dose, partially block the effects of heroin. It is, however, still possible to get high.
SWIM cannot think of anything that would leave a black residue in her nose. Black tar is not common in SWIMs part of the world but he would imagine if it is a tar that it would not be commonly snorted.

black tar isnt usually snorted but smoked... or injected IV. no idea what the black ish is but if she just all of a sudden kciked methadone that cant be right. everyone swim knows including swim had to be tappered off meth over time

During my 4 year heroin addiction, I did snort tar heroin on a few occasions... namely when I broke my last outfit. It can be stirred up in a bit of water and put into the nostrils while tilting the head back but blocking the passage from nose to throat to allow it to absorb a little, but I've never seen a black residue from it. Can't be good.

she is very withdrawn.. almost slow. every time i look at her now her nose is black.. she doesn't even care that i see it anymore. i ask her what it is and she shrugs.

could she be chopping up herbs or something. she is really into buying herbal treatments at gnc..

haaa if she is just shrugging you off not a good sign doll. site down with her and tell her you love her and if she ever wants to talk or just be heald your there. but for your sake play it safe b/c as a friend it will not be fair for you to have to suffer with her if she has gone back so maybe stay back a lil till you get it figured out but always lover her and let her know that.

Could it be dried blood?

If she's continually snorting something that's damaging to her nostrils, you might be seeing dried blood from the irritation...

Or could be from snorting black spray paint for a "huffer's high" on xylene and toluene. Yummy! Or magic-markers. Oo la la!

LOL! lets hope not.. swim huffed some silver chrome spray paint a few years back and got worst damn headache there could possibly be. yet another brilliant move by swim!

swim knows a couple of guys who used to do opiates, mainly heroin, and many months after they quitted some of them still walked around spitting all the time complaining a lot about their nose/mouth/spit feeling weird. their spit was really thick, thicker than waking up after sleeping for 12 hours with your mouth wide open after a long alcohol binge. sure there could be blood in there, that would make it really annoying. could she be picking her nose a lot from being nervous and uncomfortable?
