Hello again everyone, I've been up to a few things lately. Today I got my Fentanyl refill and it was the Mylan patch that I had not seen before. I actually love it because it's not huge and doesn't tear up my arms. My prescription is for 2 75mcg patches every 28 hours.

SWIM had gel patches and divided them into quarters with equal amounts in each, then would cut and fold them open and slide between cheek and gums. Worked well but had to be kept in for at least 30 to 45 min.

SWIM wonders if the mylan patch effects are stronger and faster, and you can spread one patch out for several days.

SWIM didn't find any difference between Mylan and Duragesic patches when they are worn as directed, the Mylan seemed to take just as long to take effect and didn't feel any stronger to SWIM. The only difference is when one attempts to chew on the patch or use the gel, there's a definite advantage to the Duragesics. However, if one does not want to wear a Mylan patch all day, it can always be put back on with medical tape, and SWIM says that the patch still works just fine.

Having been mentioned on a few other threads recently cutting the Mylans up and eating them seems to be a waste of great product. Due to oral bioavailability being extremely low for Fentanyl the best method is the one that they are designed for , transdermal. That being said it would behoove the abuser to find ways to get the medicine more quickly to the skin which is large porous organ and can recieve chemicals just as readily as the digestive system or mucous membranes of the body. Of course with the gel type patch pricking the patch and putting a very small amount (this is not recommended as it is difficult to determine amount) directly on the skin should be more efficient than oral or sublingual in SWIM's opinion.SWIM has also heard that simply applying heat to the patch(with a heating pad) while wearing it can increase the level of output from the undisturbed surface of the patch. Also it says not to apply alcohol before applying the patch but SWIM doesn't know if this is because it causes faster tranfer or if it just causes irritation. If the former then it may also increase dosage from an unmolested patch. SWIM does not know about the Mylans , since they don't have an alcohol gel medium, but if alcohol can remove the fentanyl from the patch perhaps the dissolved product could in turn be spread about on the skin (like some forms of testosterone in a gel suspesion that is rubbed into the skin). One would need to cut the patch small and again this in no way guarantees the amount on that piece. It just seems like one would want to get more bang for the buck and try to usr the method that achieves the most in the body.

SWIM just cuts the 100mcg patches into 8 squares and places one square under tongue for a while. Starts to work in about 20 min. Don't swallow the square, just leave under tongue.

You can get different patches at different drugstores. Call ahead and see what kinds of patches they have. If they ask why you need to know, say that for you the patch you are looking for is easier on the skin. Like, the gel brand is huge and tears my skin apart, the Mylan patch is much smaller and leaves a much easier thing to deal with vice versa.

SWIM also wanted to mention that SWIM left old patches on and added a new one. SWIM got wretchedly ill and the spins were so bad that SWIM had to go to bed for like seven hours. Not worth it.

With the Mylan patches SWIM has heard that cutting them into strips and microwaving them for a minute to a minute and thirty seconds in a plastic bag, leaving it for a bit and eating/drinking it is good. But SWIM mentioned that SWIM keeps the water in SWIM's mouth so that the medicine can be absorbed.

They are both probaply fine. There is a fentanyl product specially made for bucal administration, actiq. Fentanyl is well absorbed by both routes.

SWIM would have to agree with Psychonaut, although SWIM would assume under the tongue would have better absorption.

Using the example of tobacco chew - Chew has fiberglass in it to cut the outer layer of skin on the lip (same as on cheek) for better absorption.

We've discussed this at length before on other threads, but SWIM would say again that he has always got an excellent and highly euphoric effect from ingesting bits of Mylan-style patches (non-gel ones called Dorogesic in Europe, rather than Duragesic). Doesn't seem to him to be any worse than putting them under the tongue. Takes about 90 minutes to kick in though.

yes im sure this is true but swim waste alot of the medicine because swim stomach will kill alot of it off. by just keeping it under toung or between cheek swim is getting 90 to 95 percent of the medicine, as to only getting 30 or 40 percent when eaten. not to mention swim thinks it might not b good for you to eat the plastic with adhesive. when swim takes peice out of mouth when done it is still sticky so swim is not ingesting adhesive the oral way. but i guess we all have our preferences. BTW the swim who puts it behind cheek or under toung gets buzz in 10 mins.

about the mylan...my friend was on opiates for 12 years.
just moved from 360 mg morph cr/day plus 40 mg 10/650 hydro to 150 mcg mylan/3 day plus 40 mg 10/325 hydro 4 breakthru...she has no real buzz, is needed for pain, but would like a buzz again.
anyone know how to make the mylan more "user friendly" thru iv...has tried a 25 in cheek with a nice small buzz...but is Really looking for a BANG. She also tried 2 60mg morph cr just to boiling, sliding wax to side, iv'd and still got a nice but only slight but nice warm buzz...
any ideas on iv-ing 60 mg morph tabs or mylan patch?
