Lunesta (Eszopiclone) WARNING!!!

Unless you want ta taste in your mouth like you went down on a hooker with every STD known to man, and then some, refrain from this sleep med.

I can't stress this enough.. 3 times I brushed my teeth and everything still taste like smegma with a hint of ass juice.

he's right the taste can be bad but if you're a smoker it doesn't seem to be quite as bad. i know 2 smokers and two non smokers with prescriptions and the smokers say that they have a mildly unpleasant metallic taste in the morning which can be taken care of with a little food or something to drink. the two non-smokers report something like the description above.

swim got a weird metallic taste from biting a lunesta in half...wouldnt say it tasted like any hooker he's ever known (but then, maybe a cyborg hooker would taste like that?) but the aforementioned posts are all correct. do swiyself a favor and swallow them whole. worst tasting thing since ephedra...but at least it doesnt make one binge eat while sleeping like ambien apparently does! ha!

Ephedra doesn't taste bad. At least not as tea, maybe certain ephedra extract containing formula's.

Am I the only person that actually finds the metallic morning after taste agreeable?

Note: I am prescribed sleep medication.

That is one of the side effects for some with Lunesta. I just try and drink some Mountain Dew or something slightly sour and that usually kills the bad taste thing.

SWIM has taken a prescribed 3mg Lunesta every single night for the last year 14 months. SWIM has had serious insomnia since teen years (sorry to admit how far back that goes). SWIM had cycled through all of them over the years (SWIM's personal favorite is Halcyon). And although many physicians are willing to offer scripts for off-label use, the insurance companies that put the kibosh on that. SWIM was very grateful for FDA approval for long-term use.

A physician in SWIM's family mention that she had several patients try the Lunesta and quit due to the metallic taste. SWIM's response is that they couldn't have had insomnia that bad. Anybody who has experienced day after day on less than 2-3 hours sleep knows that it wouldn't matter if it tasted like the entire 6th Army division marched through your mouth in their stocking feet - ANYTHING to get a decent night's sleep.

Well, the header at the top says "Downers and Sleeping Pills". Seemed as good a place as any to discuss Lunesta.

>SWIM has taken a prescribed 3mg Lunesta every single night for the last year 14 months.

Any side effects? Habituation? Withdrawal? Lunesta seems slightly euphoric.

>why is this here? lunesta is not a psychoactive. its a melatonin isomer.

SWIM experiences definite mental changes on 3mg of lunesta, similar to but weaker than ambien. Woman friend described it as being in the head space of a "strange, autistic child." On 9mg of lunesta SWIM saw floating chairs, and remembers scarfing down half a powerbar like a wild animal before letting the dog outside, running out in boxers and howling at the moon. Then he passed out.

No side effects that SWIM is aware of. Withdrawal? No idea - SWIM hopes never to find out.

As a physician once explained to SWIM, dependancy is a different animal than addiction. Can SWIM sleep without it? Hell, no.... SWIM hasn't been without chemical assistance to sleep in many years now. The habituation question must be answered with an unqualified yes. SWIM doesn't care - SWIM only cares that she gets sleep. If SWIM's sleep disorder were of a more transient nature, she might be more inclined towards finding answers.
