Ketamine and water-- a dangerous combination!

Man found at bottom of pool reportedly took drug

A man found face down at the bottom of a swimming pool may have used a tranquilizing drug known as Special "K" before he died, police said.

Bradley Edward Stanfield, 22, was found at the bottom of the pool at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Grandes Cortes Apartments in the 1100 block of West University Drive.

He was pronounced dead at Tempe St. Luke's Hospital shortly after and Stanfield's roommate, who police said is also his girlfriend, told them Stanfield used Ketamine, a drug also referred to Special "K," earlier that afternoon.

Detectives said they found no indication of foul play and they're awaiting autopsy and toxicology reports.

SWIM has always wanted to do some and then go into one of those floatation tanks, but was afraid of such an ending.

I think probably flotation tanks are OK, but baths and swimming pools... no, no!

In SWIM's case, since he goes so far under, any amount of water is a terrible idea.

^I agree. You can drown in 2 inches or so of water if unconscious.

Before SWIM had ever come across Ketamine, he heard a story similar to this where someone under the influence thought they could breath underwater in their bathtub. Needless to say, it ended up exactly like this, and has scared SWIM into never going near water while on Ketamine

John Lilly almost drowned in a bathtub while on K. When his wife walked in, he was blue. D.M. Turner also drowned in his bathtub after injecting K.

Swimming whilst under the influence of a general anesthetic doesn't sound very clever.

well i guess it depends on how much K SWIM took, it is still a "party drug" at low doses. I do however see how lying in the bathtub while in the K-Hole may be a bad idea
