First Rave.... any advice????

SWIM will be going to his first rave in about a month. He's very excited and a little bit nervous since he doesn't know what to expect. What would your a advice be to him as a first timer????

Like any new experience, SWIM would be advised to arrive in a straight frame of mind and test the waters before making any decisions to proceed to an altered state of consciousness. Ya know - get the feet wet before diving in the deep end of the pool.

all depends how long you are there for. you should sip water throughout the night, regularly. but not too much.

if you smoke, take plenty of cigarettes. menthol are especially nice. take something to chew on, like gum or sweets (i guess you might call it candy).

if it gets too much for you, dont be afraid to mention it to your friends. sometimes its good to just sit and chat for an hour.

Because it can be highly annoying and make you look like a bit of a dick if you don't know what you're doing? Another tip - whistles; don't bother!

I must be getting old. Raves have changed so much since I was going regularly. I went to my first party in 1991 in Chicago right around the break of Acid House music and then every weekend for years.

If I had it to do over again... I would definitely, Nagog said, go to my first party stone cold sober and observe, feel it out, whatever. Then you can decide what type of experience would compliment the evening, i.e what substance to take.

If you're really aware of what kind of event it will be, what kind of music, etc you can become what I like to call "your own anaesthesiologist". I've had some of the most magical moments of my life at parties, but I think they've really gone downhill in recent years.

SWIM recommends taking a friend or two. Raves are fun as shit but SWIM would not want to be alone at his first rave. It is definitely something you will want to experience with some close friends. That way you can all look after each other.

Bring extra money for water or bring water if that is allowed. Dont forget to bring a bottle of PLUR too haha.

Omgplur!!!111!

Swim is a DJ who throws his own parties, but also has been a veteran party kid for a long time. Swim reccomends the following:

1) As stated by everyone else drink water but not too much
2) Bring cigarettes if you smoke (menthol as stated before if you like)
3) If you are hugged, hug back
4) Enjoy yourself, definately. Some raves are still true, non-judgemental environments, like the parties swim goes to. If you find that to be the case, then revel in it. Talk to people and just interact.
5) Bring glowsticks, or finger LED's, or something.
6) A vicks vapo-rub inhaler will be popular. People call it a "seabreeze"
7) Dance to the music, dance, dance, dance. It makes us DJs feel great, because we're usually only getting gas money
8) Stay close to your friends
9) Make sure you have the big three: Wallet, keys, phone, on you all the time.
10) Be nice all the time, and have fun.

I would also like to add to try and not chew anything gum/gummy related as this can lead to chewing the inner of your cheek/tounge. And may also make you want to chew and end up gnawing at your own teeth. It was a bad experence, and I didn't feel like listening to my good friend who said not to chew gum. So I did and bit myself extreamly hard. You want to try avoiding bad experences on E, especially at a rave where it won't (atleast I would expect) be very lighted.

My advice is to have money for water, since u cant bring ur own to the raves (well at least not the ones i have been to) and to stay close to ur friends. Dont share ur bottle of water with nobody except ur friends cause there are alot of dirty people trust me. Dance Dance Dance, its the best cause everyone is doing it and also take breaks so that ur body doesnt get too tired. Also never sit on the toilet seats in the washrooms cause they are dirty, and the last thing u want is to get something. That is all my advice
