Methylone and mCPP, two new drugs of abuse?

Recently, two new ecstasy-like substances, methylone and mCPP, were found in street drugs in the Netherlands by the Drugs Information and Monitoring System (DIMS). Methylone (3,4-methylenedioxymethcathinone) is the main ingredient of a new liquid designer drug that appeared on the Dutch drug market, called 'Explosion'. mCPP (meta-chlorophenylpiperazine) is a substance often used as a probe for the serotonin function in psychiatric research, and has now been found in street drugs, both in tablets and powders. Methylone as well as mCPP act on monoaminergic systems, resembling MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), with mCPP mainly affecting the serotonin system. The subjective effects of both new substances exhibit subtle differences with those of MDMA. Only little is known about the harmfulness of both methylone and mCPP. However, because of similarities between these substances and MDMA, risks common to MDMA cannot be excluded.

This is not very significant as the methylone part seems to mainly refer to "Explosion" and as for mCPP, I'm not sure how much any one cares.

I'm sure as time goes on more and more different drugs will appear, similuar to mdma. Hopefully ones that are less neuro toxic specifically.

i don't necessarily think methylone will end up being one of those drugs of abuse.. i mean for one, most of whome can obtain the illicit chemical would most definitely pick mdma over methylone any day.
- the effects of methylone and mdma differ in ways of which cocaine compares to crack..

my .02

I don't agree. SWIM can get MDMA (or pills anyway) but would prefer methylone anyday. Their effects whilst having similarities are quite different. I suspect that, where research ever done on the subject, methylone would be found to be less neurotoxic than MDMA (but maybe this is just optimism).

I think methylone is just too expensive compare to mdma to appear on the street market, unfortunatly

It would be awsome if a new chem was discovered that was an even more powerful drug then mdma far as euphoria specifically. There proably is we just have not found it yet. Imagine what that ride would be like neuro toxic or not it would be one hell of a ride.

Yeah, swim doesn't love x just because of the euphoria. Rolling is so much more.
