homemade herb vaporizer

There has been a lot of talk of the volcano in some of the last couple days post... being that swims vol is 2 states away and will be for another couple weeks, does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on a vapo technique that may work (of course not as well) but give a lot of the same effects without swim having to suffer through another blunt. swim has tried the lightbulb gig but wasnt sure if it was done right or just a shotty meathod? any suggestions or tips with the bulb idea would love the input.

THe lightbulb vaporizer is a great cheap and effective way to vaporize.
Hollow out the bulb, make sure it's nice and clean. Take a soda cap and put 2 holes in it. Insert a straw into one of the holes so it reaches near the end of the bulb. The real trick is how you use your lighter. Have the flame about 1" under the bulb, rotating it around the bud untill you see a hint of white vapor and remove the heat, maybe give the bud a couple shakes to expose more of it to the hot base.
Apply more heat when the bud is done giving off vapors.
Works like a charm!
oh yeah, don't forget to inhale the vapors (cap with straw screwed onto the screw part of the bulb)

I take it the bud needs to be finely chopped? also use a pinch or can larger volumes be just as effective? or could larger volumes decrease effectiveness due to smaller surface area?

yeah, SWIM chops his herb has fine as possible and vapes about the size of a penny amount of herb. reload as needed.

no volcano but swim told me it worked just fine!! except when swim got to blazed off his pot cowpie and kept burning the herb which swim told me had a nasty ass taste

is there any dangers connected to the lightbulb method of vaporizing?
swim means is there any reaction going on that could be detrimental to swim's health.

swim just doesnt smoke enough anymore to warrant to the cash outlay on a volcano and doesnt really dig having to smoke blunts/bongs/other assorted tools

As long as SWIU uses a clear bulb, and not one with a coating on the inside, there will be nothing that could damage your health anymore than smoking out of a proper vaporizer. SWIM made one a while back but always ended up burning himself on the glass when he got too lean.

swim saw a how-to online that suggested using salt to remove the inner coating which seemed to remove the paint, but it was any residue that worried swim

very true table salt in the bulb and swirl untill it is a clear bulb.... repeat a couple times then clean out a few times with water to ensure cleanliness

Don't wash it out with water if you plan to use it right after. My experience with it is this: when i tried to drop the herb in, it sticks to the sides of the bulb. $0.02

so swim got a lightbulb and made one of these odd looking tools. trimmed up some bud and got roasting. swim probably didnt take enough care when heating so some green went a bit black but swim hit it anyways and it didnt seem too smooth.

after about 5 minutes swim decided that it was a shit method if getting high and so loaded up another with slightly more green in. being more careful this time, swim slowly heated up the green and then took some small hits before heating again and taking the last small hit

nothing for another few minutes, then the slow waves began to wash over swim.

it was a good thing to make

it can take a couple mins to vap if you are being carefull and swivel the weed around while heating. it taste like your eating ganja butter swim swears by this method it as a cheap as fuck alternative to a real vap
