Advice needed for son and mom

Hello, I need some help. My 17 yr old son was just arrested for possesion of coke. The cop said it was and 8 ball. He was charged with possesion and sent to detention center. He was released under house arrest. He has the anklet and for you who know he can not leave the house. He has his trial 3 months from now. He was driving my car and didn't have the headlights on and was pulled over. He had 3 other friends in the car. One was the dealer and the other 2 were just friends but they were smoking pot so the cop smelled it and asked for them to hand it over. THe dealer handed over an ounce of weed, so then the cop searched the car and in the console there was a cigarette pack with the coke in it. The cop told my son if he admitted that it was his he wouldn't arrest everyone in the car. So ofcourse my son admitted it was his. So the cop let the 2 friends go but arrested the dealer who is 24 yr old and my son. My question is what are his chances of getting the charges dropped or getting the first offense and what happens after that? Has anyone gone through this. I believe my son was just wanted to make some money fast and bought it for someone, which it doesn't matter because he still was in possesion since it was in my car. Please answer, I am scared for him. He did learn his lesson. 3 days in detention hall and now the anklet and he can't even smoke cigarettes. ANd he was released to his psycho father who drives him nuts. He was living with me at the time of the incident so that's why the judge released him to his father. Please answer. Thanks so much.
