Where is the best place to live if you are looking for the following criteria to be met.
1. Safe, little violent crime, acceptance of others 2. Relaxed drug laws when dealing with possesion/manuf/cultivation 3. Cost of living being moderately low. 4. No trade embargo's with any other country. 5. Little or no pressence of foreign entities. Is there such a place on earth? Antartica? Greenland? Iceland? Thanks in advance for your responses! |

Where is that exactly? I did a google search didn't come up with anything except Selene, NY.
Edit: HAHA! Good one Alfa SELENE From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ![]() SELENE is a Japanese lunar orbiter spacecraft currently in integration. The name stands for Selenological and Engineering Explorer, and it is produced by Institute of Space and Astronautical Science for NASDA (now both organizations are part of the the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency). The proposed launch period is sometime in 2007. There are three separate units comprising the spacecraft. The main orbiter is a rectangular box measuring about 2.1 m by 4.2 m, with a mass of about 1600 kg. A small relay satellite and a VLBI satellite are both octagonal prisms. The relay satellite transmits communications from the orbiter to Earth, and the VLBI satellite will be used to measure the position and precession of the moon precisely. SELENE carries 13 science instruments, including imagers, a radar sounder, a laser altimeter, an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer and a gamma-ray spectrometer. The goal is to study the origin, evolution and tectonics of the Moon from orbit. The total launch mass will be 2000 kg, and it will be launched from the Tanegashima Space Center by an H-2A rocket. Five days later, it will reach the moon and enter an initial 120 by 13,000 km polar orbit. The relay satellite will move to a 100 by 2400 km orbit, and the VLBI satellite will move to a 100 by 800 km orbit. Finally, the orbiter will move to a 100 km circular orbit. The expected life of the mission is one year. |

I dunno if its my countries fault and just there choice, but they basicly flock together and in those areas my countries culture or tolerance towards us does not exist. Entering some area's means risking your life and we got certain known quarters in which the police has stopped patrouilling because of the insisting violence and damages done to their material (it costs to much to go there). Trust me when i say that people living near these problem area's, which are increasing in size rapidly, might feel point 5 to be a valid one. I'm a pretty tolerant guy towards other cultures but that doesnt mean i agree with my countries current policies. Integration of 2 cultures is a process that can only be achieved peacefully if you give both groups enough time to get to know each other and if you make em mix with each other. And thats assuming both groups wanna get to know each other, which is another problem cause alot of the immigrants are only motivated by the promise of easy money and a better life. Right know we just have pockets of different cultures which all have great distrust and no respect for each which often leads to violence and crime. Its like the suburbs of paris, a prime example of how imigration is failing and its a growing problem throughout europe. I know i sound pretty rightwing but imo imigration can only work in small numbers and right now its going way to fast for all parties involved. |

You probably could. If anyone decides to make a country specially geared to drug users, SWIM wants in.

Old friend got robbed twice, but he says it was his fault, getting drunk in a bar, flashing money. In the towns too many people trying to get your money, out in the bush, you got the smugglers trying to protect their investment. Swim opinions it is not a haven for dopers.

I bet Canada is probably one of the best places to live if you are into chemistry, as it seems they are much more laxed there than the U.S, and it is much cleaner there than the United States. The amount of people who own guns there is very low in comparison to the U.S and with that, the amount of violence is almost obsolete. In large city's like Toronto you can get chinese food, and pot is much more available there, then here.
Too bad the health care isn't as good, but it is FREE! (can't complain about that, unless your dying) What does it take to become a legal citizen of another country? Can you just move there and say hay, fuck you, im stayin? Anyone know the cost of living in Canada? I know the American dollar isn't worth what it used to be there. It's almost a 1.00/1.00, it used to be like 1.50 to every 1.00 U.S.. I wonder what happened there. |

Well Canada does have promise and is generally better than the US even on its bad days… but recently it has swung to the conservative. If something like a Liberal/NDP coalition government were to be running the show, that would be one thing… but with a Mr. Harper and co. at the helm, it may start looking more like America’s MiniMe.
If nothing else, Canada has LOTS of space and does not have anything like the spy-happy mentality of their Bigger Brother to the South. Provided you speak either English or French, are not real young or real old, and have some sort of college education; becoming a Canadian is a fairly easy process when compared with most other ‘Western’ nations. The taxes are fairly high… but Canada has effectively 0 debt when compared with many other countries (especially the US). Factor in Global Warming and world population demographic changes… it really looks like the place to be for the next 100 years… well assuming you cant be bothered to learn Dutch. I B |

It is a ‘points system’ that looks at a range of items. Highly skilled/educated individuals who are fluent in at least one of the major languages and will likely spend a number of years contributing to the country are the most likely to get in. But look at the questions for yourself and you can estimate where you are at. You need 67 points to meet the low bar. You can always marry in if you get desperate!

The biggest problem with the US for those IN the US is not the wars going on but the stomping of state law over federal law. State wants medical cannabis? fine! but expect the federal law to not only trump you but make an example out of you. Forward looking on this and other issues it would seem the USA will fall like the Romans and things will equal out someday. As for Canada now, man is it cold! Brrrrr! |

A roundabout way of saying Canada appears to be a fairly good choice for English speakers. If you can speak Dutch fluently, then there really is not much doubt about where to move to then... The Netherlands!
I B PS a little known fact… if history had gone just a little bit different, North America might all be speaking Dutch today. |
