Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

What are some of the symptoms of vasoconstriction due to amphetamine use? SWIM did a google search and couldn't find much. Also, what is the best thing, over the counter, to counter vasoconstriction? Would aspirin be a good and safe thing to use?

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

The obvious symptoms would be an elevated blood pressure and dilated pupils.

Have you tried a little cannabis? It is known to be a mild vasodilator.

Capsaicin, the active in peppers

Ethanol (alcohol)- Wouldn't really recommend using in conjunction with amphetamines though.

Viagra

Estrogen

Papaverine

Search around for vasodilation or vasodilators

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

Just a quick word of warning for SWIY.

One must be exceedingly careful when combining a vasodilator with a powerful vasoconstrictor like most amphetamines. As vasoconstrictors generally raise blood pressure and vasodilators generally lower blood pressure mixing them puts quite a bit of unnecessary strain on the entire circulatory system. Also the biggest concern comes from taking a vasodilator while the body is still under the effects of a vasoconstrictor. In that case the sudden unusual drop in blood pressure can cause serious, potentially fatal, bodily harm like a heart attack.

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

Personally I would go for a little cannabis myself. Impure is spot on with what he is saying. But emersonthecat, what seems to be the problem? You never really explained.

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

yes Weed can and most certainly does raise your blood pressure no if ends or buts about it. While alot of people think it slows you down and its a downer is because it slows the transportation of certain neurons in your brain from reaching there destination in the time that they are suppose too. producing the high it gives. But its scientifically and medically proven that it also effects the nervous system by increasing blood pressure by 20% as well as heart and breathing rates as well. Thats why alot of people get panic attack and anxiety and paranoia from weed. Downer's do not cause those symptoms. All of those are side effects of the speed up of the sympathetic nervous system. Mixing weed with any type of drug especially a stimulant is just asking for trouble. But side effects of vasoconstriction are yes raised blood pressure heart rate ect. But you will notice your hands and feet will become sometimes ice cold. Tingling and numbness on your scalp in your arms and legs. blurry vision. But mainly the number 1 thing is cold hands and feet. and yes a small dose of aspirin can help with that. But not to much 1 or 2. But either way thats a side effect of all amphetamines and there is no way around it. Another thing that works great and does nothing to the vessels is a benzo. Xanax, klonopin, ativan, val, any of those in a small dose. though wont counter the effects of the vasoconstriction. Will slow down the nervous system thus putting less strain on your heart and blood pressure by slowing them down. Thus causing less damage from the vasoconstiction over the long haul than to not take anything for it at all. hope i helped

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

Cold hands and feet are a huge one...it annoys SWIM beyond belief. Also for males it can make your penis look smaller and makes it a little bit more difficult to pee sometimes.

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

Some symptoms of more severe vasoconstriction could be blueing of extremities e.g fingers (this is called peripheral vasoconstriction) more commonly one might notice the skin turning paler and as other suggested cold feeling, some experience tingling. More often than not in my experience this will cease when use is ceased. The elevated blood pressure sitbcknchill mentions is another regular symptom, prolonged use could cause the condition Hypertension.

Incidently, tobacco, caffeine and cough and cold medications, especially those that are decongenstants containing things like pseudoephedrine cause vasoconstriction so it would be sensible to consider minimizing use of these if any parrots are determined to use amphetamine. Tobacco is known to cause a condition called Peripheral vascular disease which affects mobility long term and certainly causes discomfort and often pain.

From medscape: "methamphetamine lacks much of the peripheral stimulant properties of amphetamine while still offering euphoric and hallucinogenic properties. These actions are similar to those of cocaine; however, while effects of cocaine last for 10-20 minutes, duration of amphetamine action is much longer, lasting as long as 10-12 hours..Catecholaminergic (sympathomimetic) effects of amphetamines include inotropic and chronotropic effects on the heart, which can lead to tachycardia and other dysrhythmias. The vasoconstrictive properties of the drugs can lead to hypertension and/or coronary vasospasm. Serotonergic action of amphetamines on peripheral vasculature can lead to vasoconstriction, which is especially problematic in placental vessels.”

Prolonged, especially IV use of amphetamine has many health risks and I wonder if the emersoncats parrot is perhaps experiencing problems through use? Taking another drug to counteract the negative effects of the first may work in the short time but it could also lead to problematic poly drug use in the long run. Best of luck to the parrot!

Cannabis, initially does raise your blood pressure but also is found to decrease it as well with regular use. Actually it is being studied as a treatment for hypertension among many other things. It is known to be a mild vasodilator. I don't want to throw this thread too far off topic though might be a good topic to discuss in the right thread. It is interesting indeed.

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

A good otc regimin for vasoconstriction is BEFORE the DOC is ingested, 3 grams of l-arginine/2.5 grams l-citrulline/500mg l-norvaline with 16 oz water, all of these are cheap amino acids that release nitric oxide thus dialating blood vessels(l-norvaline is a pde-5 inhibitor like viagra) but any way a bottle of l-arginine cost about 8$ l-citrulline about 12$(these 2 are in combos most of the time and are great for lowering blood pressure) or the active ingredient in horny goat weed -icariin- wich is availible in pure and extract form is incredible when combined with an arginine based product.those and asprin, fish oil 3grams. KEY thing is the aminos have to be taken on an empty stomach and wait 15min, say upon waking then snort smoke vape away and with the combos above you more than likely wont get speed dick (shrinkage/impotence) and will vastly improve you sex drive and maintain a more healthy vascular system while using stimulants..... dose before mid day and night, no cold hands or feet add the asprin 2-3 sublingual 81mg ones and you should be set, best combo is the l-arginine 3grams/l-citrulline2-3 grams/icariin 100mgs. then the arg/citru at 4 hr intervals 2 more times expecially if binging then vit-c+b complex+potassium/magnesium/calcium and lots of water/fruit juice is manditory

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

Hookey Dokey, this is the first thread my monkey has seen about the effects of speed/meth usage with a Viagra/Cialis like substance, the search function provides little info, so since this is on the top of the view list, lets see what the folks have to say, and if there are other links the monkey or the Op missed, please post them, thanks.

Some of the monkey history, brain tumor removal 9/07, put on Keppra 500mg twice daily for multiple seizures I was having every week or so, all under control seizure wise for many months but, the monkey has no sex drive, nada, zilch, not even to spank, this doesn't set well with the monkey's mate, the monkeys neurologist states that Keppra should not be the cause of this, and offers a session with a sex doctor/therapist, my monkey went 4 times, and got some insight that it might just be the trauma of the major surgery and give it time....??? We're talking a major hot dude (in his mind) used to having rampant sex to having none at all...give it time?? So, being a smart monkey, he waits for it to kick in again, long story short, monkey loses his mate (not for the sex thing 'he's still a friend'), suddenly, out of the blue, a big monkey says hello one day, we get together and a pipe is produced with meth, my monkey gets crazed, rock hard on and off, and the finalle' is mind blowing!!

As my monkey says, the hard on is on and off (natural from what I've read), so he gets Viagra from the Doc and now it's waaaay more fun with meth, seriously, my buds and I only do it once a week but, that one day is unreal, I take (1) 100mg Viagra, then if the feeling is right to go into the wee hours, I eat another, the meth dose in very small. The monkey only experience's a small headache on the comedown.

Re: Symptoms of Vasoconstriction?

All swimmers should avoid using viagra in combo with stimulants for more reasons than what is listed. My pet spider used to use viagra and meth together to enable massive sex sessions, for a while afterwards sex was difficult and orgasm was very unsatisfying. Two months later his penis functions at 100% but after having those mindblowing meth orgasms he still isnt very satisfied without them. Also viagra has the most obnoxious side effects ever, it basically gives one a mild cold for a few hours along with the unstoppable boner, my spider hated using it but when you are a young spider females tend not to be very kind or understanding about something that is far beyond a spiders contro. @@1
