My 1st try with Camel ciggies: A messy affair. Any advice guys?
Hey there guys, was wondering if you could help me on this one problem. I tried looking up the topic of how to smoke a Camel ciggie correctly but didnt find any relevant threads other than the "whats your favourite brand..." thread.
I've been smoking Marlboro Menthol for about a year, one pack a day until I decided maybe if I switched to a stronger brand like Camel, I would have to smoke less but get the same pleasure out of it. Mind you, I've only tried filter cigarettes(all menthol) all my life and today was my first experience with Camel. Here's the problem, whenever I light up the Camel cig, the end where a filter is usually found is made wet by the saliva from my mouth. So whilst smoking, some of the tobacco leaves get into my mouth and the paper turns soggy too. This shouldn't be the case, right? Also, is it true you should still 'pack' the tobacco in, before lighting up the cig or for non-filter, it dont matter? Help me guys. I would really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!

My lab-ape, Bongo, rolls his own cigarettes. It is far less expensive than buying those chemical-laden firecracker fuses they sell in stores. And the tobacco is pure - not altered by the companies for marketing/profiteering reasons.
Yes, one taps the end of a non-filter down gently with a slightly damp fingertip to hold the tobacco in place. A slight twisting motion as well is used. And one places the cigarette to the outer (dryer) portion of the lips - not giving the infernal thing head. When Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. was asked one day at a party why he smoked those vile things (he smoked Pall Mall un-filtered at the time), Mr. Vonnegut replied: "Because I'm too chicken to use a gun." |

Catherine the Great was ridden by a horse. Or is that different?

I don't think that's actually true Nago. It's just a myth.

If you want to go filterless go with a good ol Pall Mall non-filter....good stuff...not really but eh....but yes Camels at least round here come in filter and non-filter as well as a few other brands...not uncommon really....

For a true sado-masochistic store-bought non-filter, find a pack of Kool straights. Those will have you heaving on the sidewalk real quick! I used to carry a pack of those for people who wanted to bum a smoke from me. They lasted for over a year!

Thanks so far for the advice guys. One more question; I've noticed that both ends of the Camel cigarette are open, are you supposed to clamp down the end you smoke from(so you can suck from it better?) or smoke it as it is?

Up until I quit completely in 2002 I rolled my own. Great thing about this is your amazing joint rolling skills lovingly learned while addicted to Nicotine. I always get asked how I learned to roll a joint by hand with the same quality as a non filtered cigarette.
