Injecting - IM needle gauges and method

SWIM is ready for his first Ketamine and has experienced the following in the past in chronological order.

Alcohol
Tobacco
Diazepam
Codeine
Hydrocodone
Hydromorphone
DXM
Morphine
Morphine IV
Cannabis
Mushrooms
Mescaline
MDMA
---- Insert Ketamine here ----

SWIM wants to have a couple of questions before he goes ahead with his 1st experience. From what he gathers IM seems by far the best method of administration.

1)Is IM the best method of administration?

2) SWIM is skilled with IV injections however has never ever done an IM injection as is a little hazy on how to do it is there a source or explantion that SWIM can obtain as a method to follow.

3) If SWIM did ketamine IV is it true that SWIM wouldnt be able to remove the needle before becoming paralyzed/semi concious therefore leaving the needle in his arm.

4) what gauge needle should be used for IM injection? (i know smaller is better but what is a normal kinda size)

5) could SWIM undertake his first experience alone or would this be dangerous? (I know all psychoactives are dangerous but i mean to a significant degree)

SWIM prefers not to inject K as a rule (injecting drugs is not socially acceptable and ketamine seems to be very psychologically addictive taken this way).

IVing K is supposed to be very strong and, yes, it is supposed to be hard the get the needle out in time. Also, the peak is over too quicky-- about 10 minutes or so. There are many accounts of people IVing K and not doing so-- the blood could go everywhere!

It would be dangerous to attempt this alone for the first time. If the dose is over 50 mg or so, you could be completely unable to move within minutes. Two famous ketamine users, DW Turner and John Lilly, both reccomended that you should never take K alone. Both broke their own rules, Turner drowned in his bath, Lilly nearly did!

The other thread containing the IM information does not answer what size of needle Gauge or how to IM among other things. I have read previous threads but asked the questions above to get a more accurate response.

Swim iv'd K once. Really weird experience. Vision got all fucked up, not blurry but shakey?. Dont know how else to describe it. Felt very disoriented for a couple of minutes. Not extremely euphoric. Not a very enjoyable experience all around. Very short as enquirewithin mentioned. Swim wont bother with that again.

Bongo simply applied some alcohol on his butt. Took 25-gauge needle/syringe w/50mg ketamine. Jab. Squirt. Withdraw. Apply a little more alcohol to area. Bend/discard needle/syringe. About 5 minutes later, he felt his lips going numb. Bongo would then be seated.

25-guage is mighty thin. Bongo doesn't like pains in the ass of any variety.

Anyone know about injecting into the thigh? Also where on your ass do you inject it and at what sort of angle?

Upper outer quadrant of buttock (avoids sciatic nerve). 90 degrees to skin. Always withdraw SWIY's syringe plunger before injecting (if you get blood you're in a vein). As for the thigh, SWIY could go into quads but should definitely avoid the lateral (outside) aspect: You could easily inject into fascia lata which is poorly supplied with blood and would be likely to give very unpredictable results.

SWIm has also searched the thread and cannot find good info on what kind of needle to use. How many units should have? SWIM would need to accurately measure in incriments of .1ml. He was told that one and a half inch 100unit 23 guage syringes would be good. Can anyone confirm this?

If its water based you can use up to a 31g. or even a slin pin

SWIM uses a 27.5 gauge one but prefer IV. Try to do it fast, so you can withdraw, swab yourself with alcohol, and get rid of the needle. You don't want to have it in your hand when you go into a hole.

*Caution* IV hits very very fast. Have a spotter the first few times you try this. Listen to jatelka's advice for IM. IM can really be anywhere. Arm, buttock, thigh, etc...

1 CC (100mg) IM w/ 28 gauge 1 CC needle. Alcohol clean upper & outer portion of your butt. Inject. Lay back. I'd recommend this method to anyone of avg height/build. Snorting K is a complete waste in SWIM's considered opinion.
