Drug info - Brown Acid?

SWIM's friend has recently told SWIM about a chemical called brown acid. He says that it is acid that was cooked up using drano. He also said that one of his friends went absolutely crazy after taking some, and is now in a psych ward. When SWIM asked him about why they would make it, he says that it is cheaper. Now, what I want to know is whether or not there is such a thing as brown acid. In my mind, it wouldn't be worth it for someone to make a compound like that, because it would still require a lot of chemistry, and LSD isn't overly expensive to synthesize. SWIM thinks that his friend just made this story up in order to stop SWIM from continuing drug use, which SWIM's friend doesn't agree with. Even if he heard a story like that, I still think that the idea of brown acid is bullshit. Has anyone else ever heard of this, and does anyone know if it actually exists?

Bullshit, it may be an urban myth originating from the famous announcement at Woodstock about "the brown acid is bad" but there is no chemical called "brown acid". Drain cleaner is Sodium Hydroxide which is used to produce many drugs. Maybe SWIMs friends friend had an underlying psychological problem.

That is a MYTH based on the "the brown acid is bad" annoucement at Woodstock. What they meant is that "brown acid" is a crude LSA extraction rather than LSD. It will cause you to get nasuas, sore neck and back, and cause you to feel sedated. It's not made with drano, and it wont put you in a psych ward.

Tell your friend he's full of shit, and keep reading up on this forum.

i have been curious about the brown woodstock acid for years. Never could get a straight answer from anyone though.

Yea SWIM has always heard about the "bad acid" at woodstock but someone said it was just too strong for people to handle. SWIM never thought a dose of LSA could fit on blotter or into a drop of liquid but he just found out that Hofmann said that a dose is 2-5mg. That amount could easily be put into a drop of liquid so maybe this theory is correct.

You must learn to recognize drug myth nonsense. When people talk about cooking stuff up with drano and people going crazy etc they are spreading drug myths.

I'm not certain this is related at all but a few years back there was some liquid LSD going around here. It was brownish, supposedly from a slight amount of impurities (~20µg/100µg/mL) in the amber crystal it was made from.

Amber crystal, usually doesn't make the liquid too dark, but some people who mix the LSD use 151 rum or colored alcohol, which can give it color.. Amber crystal usually isn't that dark to begin with, it just has a slight yellow/amber tinge to it...
