SWIM is traveling from the eastcoast to hawaii and would like to know...how risky is it to carry about only 2 grams of yey in SWIM's luggage?

SWIM is wondering if dogs can sniff out that small amount and how much through the luggage the x-ray thing can see through? PMs are welcome and will be passed along to SWIM thanks.

Swim wouldn't dare try and get it through in swiy's luggage.. Best bet would be to mail it to an address at the destination... First class mail requires a warrant before it can bee opened.. Cocaine does have a very distinct smell and dogs will definitely pick up the scent.. If swiy does mail it make sure it is vaccuum sealed and packaged discretely... The x-rays used at the airport are very sophisticated and can tell various densities of materials, and if something looks somewhat suspicious, they will detain swiy and conduct a very thorough search.. I doubt it's worth it...

OK, Blondie, you want to know if (and how) to pre-Vacation your Sourcing.

What happens to me at the Airport?

The Main question is . . . Is it going to be Checked, or is it a Carry-on?

Depending on which Airport you begin your journey, the Baggage-testing will be different. Suffice it to say: If you place a plastic Baggie (containing your Contraband) in a suitcase (AND, do not bring it on-Board with you), you will most-likely be safe. X-rays will almost-surely "miss" a tiny Baggie with a measley 2 Grams in it. And most Airports only "sniff" International cargo.

If, for some reason, the Baggie were found, it still does not prove that the Contraband is yours. A perfect legal defense to a Possession charge is: "Someone else helped me pack this suitcase" (or, "I had it open in the Parking Lot, and 5 Hell's Angels came over and were talking to me, and looking-over my Sock collection").

If you are more of a risk-taker (and braver), you can try to carry it onto the plane with you. The Security Guards aren't actually looking for Drugs; they are interested in finding any weapons (or Fingernail Files) you would be trying to Board with. The problem with this procedure, however, is: If you appear nervous, the Security Guard will (most likely) become very suspicious about your behavior. This nervousness can compound if the Guard starts asking his "Suspicious Persons" questions. Soon after that: If there IS a Drug-sniffing dog in the Airport, he will probably come over and visit you.

Suffice it to say: Anything you attempt to bring on a plane (including your body, and your clothes, too) is Subject to possible Search. The Best way to not get caught, is not to have anything on you to get caught with.

The intervening Airports do not do any Security checking on already-Checked Baggage.

Now, you land in Hawaii. The way I have heard (which is several years ago), there is NO baggage checking/testing/x-raying coming in to Hawaii. The easy way to Confirm this is: Call the Airport you are flying in to, and ask them.

But, on the other hand, coming back to the Main Land has extra problems. The Airports there are a lot more interested in what you are bringing Back with you from your trip. This is because MANY people enjoy bringing back a few Grams of Maui Wowie with them (you know, as a Souvenir of their Vacation).

Hundreds of people bring illegal drugs into Hawaii every day. Almost no one gets caught with drugs in Checked luggage. Everything in Life is percentages. I would say that you have a 99+% chance of arriving in Hawaii with more than just a Lei around your neck. Aloha.

If SWIM was gonna do it, he'd smell proof a vacuum baggie with bleach and tape it to where the sun don't shine. SWIM wouldn't bother though. Too risky. Getting caught with a class A drug in an airport would get you in serious trouble.

yeah, swim thinks that you have a better chance with any other substance. that stuff has the most detectable odor. all you need is one dog in the airport going out for his walk or something. if you do, do what solidly says about the check on.

to be perfectly honest, SWIM has only seen dogs in greyhound stations, not airports. maybe SWIM has been going to the wrong destinations but he always figured they were checking for weapons mostly (in fact, swim had seen a friend of swim's let go after getting searched, the security finding morphine pills, saying, "dont worry, we dont care about those", and letting him go). international flights are a different story though, as far as SWIM can tell they randomly search persons coming back into the US of A.

With apologies for going off-topic... is it easy for tourists to find cannabis in Hawaii? That would be a major selling point for deciding where to vacation for anyone who prefers not to smuggle but would like some herb on their vacation.

Yes.

I mean, you can't just find it everywhere, but it's out there, it's plentiful, and it's strong.

Also, there are several Islands there, and some are much more Pot-friendly than others. I am not going to get too specific (that should be saved for the Sources Forum), but, at least, if you walk along a crowded beach (wearing a T-Shirt with a Marijuana leaf on it), you will have a pretty-good chance of scoring some.

The Hawaii 5-0 squads consider Pot a low-priority crime, so things are pretty cool. People safely partake on the Beach, for example.

A hint: One place to NOT look for good Pot strains is at the Police Station.
