Poppy seed "tea" guide
This will show you about the easiest way to make poppy seed "tea" and also the right kind of seeds to buy, not just any will give optimal results!
This is not bullshit or a joke if you do it right with the right seeds, you can become dopesick from this if you ingest it daily for a few weeks. First off this isn't tea in the traditional sense, all you are doing is washing off any residual opium on the outside of the seeds with water which opiates are very soluble in. You do not want to grind up the seeds or leave them in water for very long as they will swell and absorb all the liquid, its just a wash. You will not want to buy seeds from the average grocery store spice aisle if at all possible, they are sold in small expensive amounts and are almost useless for making tea. You want to find a source for bulk amounts, and not just any. You will need to look for dark seeds that have a characteristic "spicy" odor, the darker the better. These can produce an intense body high for about 4 hours and not drop you completely until almost 24 hours later. The blue/grey seeds with a light "straw" odor are almost useless, they barely give a threshold experience to even those who have never used opiates. The dark seeds will produce a dark brown tea that has a obvious bitter taste, the blue/grey ones produce a dingy yellowish tea with a light earthy taste. Your best bet is to check wholesalers and foreign grocery stores, Indian,Middle Eastern and Asian are good places to check. Please be low key and polite, many such places are family owned and will not think twice to pull a product if you go around telling people you get high off it. Here are photograhic examples of what I am talking about: What you want: ![]() What you don't want: ![]() Now on to the tea making, you will need a source of hot water(not boiling! hot tap water works well) and an empty and clean flexible plastic bottle with a water proof lid, this shape works best: ![]() Now if you are a total novice I recommend starting with a half pound of seed, experienced users can start with a pound of seed. Pour the seed into the bottle, now add hot water to slighty cover the seed, swirl it around a little and make sure you have a slurry consistency like unset jello. Seal the bottle tightly and shake, shake, shake as hard as you can for about 3-5 minutes or until the water is noticeably brown. Now turn the bottle, cap facing down and hold it over a bowl or a large glass and slowly and carefully open the lid just until the liquid starts seeping out into the bowl/glass. Don't open it any further, instead squeeze the side of the bottle lightly until all the liquid is in the bowl/glass. The threads of the bottles and cap act as a strainer and you will have no seeds Now seal the bottles lid again and set it aside as you can give the seeds a second wash if you wish, but not needed as 90% of the alkaloids you already have.Thats it! This method avoids the need for strainers or cheesecloth or other messy filtering methods. Very easy and cheap, as a bonus you can use the washed seeds in cooking, or dry them outside and then spread them in wild fields or unmowed areas for a crop of pods. Don't just throw them in the trash ![]() !Be careful with this! You can get terrible opiate itch, nods and constipation not to mention withdrawl if you over do it. It just takes finding the right crop of seeds. I have seen it speculated that the cause of these dark seeds is hand scoring pods for opium harvest, I can't confirm that but would like any information anyone has. |

All I can say is: Great Post!
This is an excellent idea. I love the pics and it's super-simple. I've never thought of nor heard of using an inverted lid as a strainer, but I like it a lot. And... no more guesswork when it comes to seed buying! In fact, that bag makes my mouth water. I can't say that I've ever in my life seen seeds that look like those... I wonder how I'm going to track down a bag like that! -uh, for bagel-baking, of course! |

Lemon juice definitely helps with the taste, its so strong you don't notice the bitter/terrible taste of the tea. It doesn't help with extraction that SWIM has noticed honestly, but it should in theory.
Richard:They came from a local mid-east wholesale/grocery/cafe but were restocked by the run of the mill blue/greys, it was very nice while it lasted and they have not been seen again. ![]() SWIM got a tip that http://www.itsdelish.com/ brand are a match, however they are only sold only in grocery stores on the west coast far from SWIM so impossible to confirm, and are sold in half pound quantities. If that violates the source rule I apologize in advance. |

Thanks Unico.
So THAT'S where they get all that crap in 50lb bags before they break it up into little clear plastic containers! There's a mid-east food store that sells these types of products near me, but I never realized how prevalent small, privately-owned middle-eastern stores might be which specialize in the bulk resale of--for example: chocolate almonds, chocolate raisins, chocolate hazelnuts, chocolate coffee cordials, fake M&M's, and flame ball gums. It's a pretty good idea. I think I'm going to start a chain of imitation small mid-east food stores and secretly buy 200lb bags of flame gum balls, etc. then distribute evenly to all stores. Don't worry folks, I'll make sure to stock the darkest, dankest, spiciest-smelling poppy seeds that I can find!
