Phenethylamine and tryptamine signature

Is there a definate signature to the phenethylamine and tryptamine groups? What I mean is could some one dose you with a substance and you could guess if it was a tryptamine or a phenethylamine. Swim has shroomed, rolled, and essayed 2c-I. He noticed a small familiarity in rolling and 2c-I.

this is my opinion, but I'd say it is quite difficult to differentiate most of the commonly used psychedelics from each other (say lsd, mushrooms, 2c-i, 2c-e, 2c-b, miprocin, iprocin). I would like to have some scientific testing on my beliefs (so I could see if I only have some delusion or is it a fact), but in these anti-drug times arranging such test seems very challenging.

The general 'feel' of 2C-E and 4-HO-DiPT are very different. if this is what you mean, then yes, you can tell

i find tryptamines to be more dreamy and cosmic while phens are more of a self analysis tool and not so spiritual.
the visuals are different too although im having a hard time explaining exactly how.

i hope this helps although i doubt it does.
try some PEA's and some trypts and then come back and tell us.

The mental effects and body feelings from PEAs and tryptamines are quite different.

SWIM finds the following:
tryptamines incur some very intense mental effects. a dreamy state, somewhat of a spiritual aspect to it.

PEAs are much more clear-headed, intense focus is rather easy, less of a drifty nature to it.

PEAs also bring about a very nice "electric" body feeling. A lot of tactile enhancement, and tingly sensation on the skin that is somewhat reminiscent of amphetamines. Tryptamines do not have that same body signature.

I have to agree withtreefingers49. Much more clearminded on phens but also much less emotional. Phens also give quite a alot of tension in the muscles, especially neck and back gets what they deserve. Tryptamines are much much more emotional, for me atleast and not as clearminded. More of spirirual feeling to tryptamines. Phenetylamines is more analytical for me. I now prefer the phenetylamines over the tryptamines mostly because of the heavy emotional character of the latter.

Tryptamines and phenethylamines have very different signatures and anyone who is even somewhat experienced with the two should have little trouble knowing if they are on a phen or a tryptamine. Also LSD and other lysergic acid compound like LSA ,while technically tryptamines, have their own signatures that can be distinguished from the tryptamines with simpler structures.

Swim has plenty of experience with shrooms so he understands the spirutuality of them. He has also rolled and eaten 2c-I. He could easily distinguish between those but has not had experience with any of the more psychedelic PEAs. Thanks for answering my question.

I have also found psychedelic amphetamines to have their own signature aswell.
They are as "emotional" as tryptamines and not as clear minded as PEA's. They feel more like a mix of the two and tend to remind me more of LSD than anything else.

What is the difference between psychedelic amphetamines and PEAs?

A phenethylamine is: R-CH2CH2NH2 with R being the phenyl, which is a benzene ring in it's simplest form.

An amphetamine: R-CH2CHNH2CH3. So the difference is one carbon and two hydrogens, as well as different bond structure.

I understand the difference between amphs and phens but not the difference between psychadelic amphs and phens. What is an example of a psychadelic amphetamine and an example of a phenethylamine? It sounds redundant to me.

DOx compounds, TMAs psychedelic amphetamines.

mescaline, 2C's psychedelic phenethylamines. 2C-x is the phenethylamine (or 2 carbon) version of DOx (ie 2C-C ~ DOC).

I'd highly recommend reading PiHKAL. If you pay attention, there are many differences between psychedelic amphetamines and peas. for example, longer duration and greater potency for psychedelic amphetamines.

Tree, thank you for clearing that up. PiHKAL is still a little over my head. I haphazardly read entries from it, but I am mearly a high school grad haha. I have been very seriously considering college just so I could take a chem class haha.
