stop smoking marijuana & sleeping :S

swim stopped using marijuana a few days ago. The awake time of the day is getting better, but swim doesn't manage to have a proper sleep withouh a good joint, or loads of alcohol. swim has used around one gram a day for about a year now.

swim doesn't want to drink loads of alcohol every day, not only because it's worse for the body. But also because it costs more, while he stopped using marijuana because of money problems .

So, 2 questions:
1) How long does it take for the body to get good at sleeping sober again?
2) What do other ex-smokers do to get asleep?

Benadryl or diphenhydramine can help you fall asleep and is an OTC med, easily available.. Melatonin can help as well.. Warm milk, limited daily caffeine intake, and warm baths before bedtime, all can help... After 1-4 weeks you should have returned to normal..

I think that for the majority of quiting pot smokers it will usually take somewhere between 1-6 weeks to get sleeping patterns back to normal. I personally feel that with the first week being the hardest it is a good idea to use some kind of sleeping aid. After that week is up I discontinue the use of sleeping medication cause I'd just end up needing that every night as well. Instead I just switch up to a more active lifestyle with a bit of exercise thrown in as well, this generally tires out my body just enough to achieve the sleep without medication.
