haha i was just trying some different things around the house, seeing if anything would work. And so i smoked green tea. It was weird, i didn't think anything would happen, but thought what the hell. But after i took a couple hits-i felt real high. But this only lasted for like 1 minute. anyone else try smoking tea? is it supposed to do anything?

I actually read a few reports on smoking green tea, and that it can get you high. Cameillia synthesis, the ingredient ( im spelling it from memory probally wrong), is a sedative that is activated by heat supposively smoking it can get you high. On a low dose dxm tripI looked in my medicine cabinet and found some, since i didnt take much dxm i figured what the hell i'd try smokign some green tea. I had some marijuana like effects after smoking it but i was tripping so i wasnt sure exactly what the effects were, I'm going to try it again sober, i still have some but i dont have a pipe at the moment, and not gonna try it with a homemade one.

I think you get high off of green tea from lack of oxygen getting to your brain.

Well no its not from lack of oxygen there is a definite 'feeling' from the Cameillia synthesis but it is very short lived as for good dose for a strong high I honestly do not for i havent experimented with this enough i've only tried one kind of green tea, If I knew more about Cameillia I would like to try maybe an extraction method to make a strong resin like substance. I'm sure its possible but havent got around to researching what its soluble in. This would probally be the best if not only way to get a strong high from it otherwise its just a mild head buzz. Tastes Gross. I'm not planning to experiment with it anymore unless anyone knows a possible extracting method for it. Since it is used as tea as well as in gelcapsthat means it is water soluable soyou could probally boil it down. Havent put much thought into it yet but I will.

You would probably need to extract it with a solvent, like alcohol and evaporate that. Since I am no expert on this can anyone enlighten us?

I'm no expert on this either.

But I know that alkaloids can be extracted using the acid-base method.

But I don't think there will be any alkaloids that are psychoactive in green tea.

You might have better luck using the salvinorin extraction used on salvia leaves.

http://www.erowid.org/plants/salvia/...raction1.shtml

just substitute the salvia leaves with the grean tea.

I think the active substances in salvia or perhaps green tea are not alkaloids but something different. I know that the active chemicals in salvia (salvinorin A & B)are called diterpenes.

Can anybody shed some light on this???

This is the only proven to-date cause of tea's psychoactive properties.

The difference between green and black tea is in the processing of the plant, not a difference in species.

a. swiy is expecting new substances in future research ??
b. black's fermented n green isnt, isnt it ? that difference is important is swiy suggesting ?

swims thoughts bout green or black tea would be to try n make very powerful extracts out of rather large quantities n see if oral use provides recreational value . tho these extracts seem to exist already, see also guarana etc...

Yes. There have been many suggested health benefits linked to the consumption of green tea. I believe green tea is healthy and provides several of these benefits. The FDA has not concluded that the consumption of green tea provides these benefits, but then again, the FDA has also not approved of the use of marijuana as a medicine, which has been used for about as long as green tea has.

When our species undergoes a revolution... specifically, when a fellow humans well being becomes more valuable than money to the powers that be... that is when we will learn of the values of green tea.

Yes, it changes the chemical constituents of the plant matter, such as affecting the level of caffeine.

Guarana is another source of caffeine, although it is named guaranine when it is found in the guarana plant, as well as some similar compounds.

Re: Green Tea

Tea, green or black (red) does not have much recreational potential. Green tea contains catechins, antioxidants, believed to ward off cancer. (In extracted, concentrated form these may even be bad for you.)

Green tea may contain as much caffeine as fermented tea, but it's said that the theanine it contains may neutralise the caffeine and is relaxing. Traditionally the Chinese 'wash' tea-- throwing away the first infusion and much of the caffeine.

so the 'green tea extracts' that are sold as diet-aid and such could be saidto work as a downer and upper in-one swiy suggests ? swim once changed from guarana to green tea caps, expecting em to work very alike.
but they didnt, the green tea didnt have as much energy-effect and seemed to throw in some [light] nausea...
n further, do the chinese 'wash' their black or their green tea ?

Re: Green Tea

Green tea is not as stimulating as black/ red (ie, fermented) tea or coffee, it seems. I have read research suggesting that green tea extracts are bad for you-- people take them for the antioxidants rather than energy, I think.

Traditionally the Chinese have an elaborate way of making tea, including washing/ rinsing all kinds of tea. It makes it taste great, but only the older people seem to bother now.
